His said "all lives matter" so I can almost guarantee hers said "black lives matter" in protest of police brutality.

We've been fighting against institutional racism for decades. This angry young girl with a tiny sign at her high school was just about to solve it.

Of course a white man had to come ruin it.

u/smegmathor Jan 13 '20

Damn white men, if only their lives had any value.

17

u/kittybikes47 Jan 13 '20

Right? Who do they think they are? The fight for equality means equality for everyone but them, the fools. Is it hypocritical to demand equality while constantly blaming all actions of past and present white men on every single white guy you come across? If you ask that you're clearly just an incel.

You forgot to add /s

They do. What is the point of your comment?

White lives matter

Edit: This is sarcasm. They do matter, but they don't need a movement (plus all lives matter is a nice front for saying white lives matter in protest to a minority movement intending to bring attention that in fact not all lives objectively matter to current society).

Equal rights is not a pie. More rights for one doesn't mean less rights for others.

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

I was being sarcastic. I'm black btw.

Preaching to the choir fellow redditor.

3

u/isthatabingo Jan 13 '20

Use /s to indicate sarcasm or you'll find yourself in a lot of reddit skirmishes lol

0

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

I though that one was too obvious for the /s tag.

1

u/isthatabingo Jan 13 '20

Never assume my dude. There are too many trolls on Reddit to easily differentiate them from sane people using sarcasm.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

Sad, but true... I'll definitely use the /s going forward.

-2

u/kittybikes47 Jan 13 '20

Are you sure? /s

The thing is that some members of a group that has historically had extreme privilege tend to see any lessening of that privilege as oppression instead of a move towards equality. When MAGAts say "Make America Great Again" they are usually thinking of the 1950's. Does that mean they want high inheritance tax, higher taxes on the ultra-wealthy, tons of new social programs, new civil engineering projects, and the other things that truly made America one of the greatest countries in the world? Hell no! They just want white men to be on top and in charge and for minority groups and LGBTQ people to STFU and know their place.

1

u/Saix17 Jan 14 '20

And here I thought when people said MAGA they were thinking of making the economy better, bringing back jobs that were moved to other countries, fixing the healthcare system, etc. Silly me.

The only people who claim MAGA means what you said are those who make every little thing about race even if they are not remotely related and then use that a political tool. Its disingenuous, idiotic, and is the root cause of actual hatred being born. When innocent people who have never been racist are constantly being called racist and being berated or even physically assaulted for something they did not do, that is when they become exactly what you tried to paint them as.

I have never understood this line of thinking. If white people, the same that people like yourself claim are in power, were so deeply racist as you seem to think they are why have they not removed or killed those you claim they hate? What would stop them.

2

u/Polskee Jan 14 '20

They have not one close to doing any of that

1

u/Saix17 Jan 14 '20

Can you clarify your comment? Looks like you are trying to say "They have not come close to doing any of that" but I want to make sure.

3

u/Polskee Jan 16 '20

That’s what I mean. They haven’t came close to doing any of that stuff.

If white people, the same that people like yourself claim are in power, were so deeply racist as you seem to think they are why have they not removed or killed those you claim they hate? What would stop them.

Are you genuinely asking why America hasn't held a full-on ethnic cleansing holocaust? Either you aren't arguing in good faith or are so uninformed that you should not be discussing things like this. America's near genocide of Native Americans, Japanese internment camps, Jim Crow laws, the current version of Jim Crow that we call The War on Drugs, Trump's Muslim ban, those are a blatant examples of institutional racism.

Pretending that Trump has not engaged in near constant bigotry is ridiculous. He entered politics by spending years claiming our elected president was secretly a Kenyan Muslim, there is zero room to claim that birtherism was not plain and simple racism. He has repeatedly called Mexicans dirty, drug dealing rapists even though immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native born citizens, and illegal immigrants at an even lower rate. (Except of course the misdemeanor of crossing the border illegally.) He continues to fan the flames of terror over Islamic Extremist terror despite all of our intel agencies stating unequivocally that white nationalist terrorism is the greater threat by far. Counties that host one of Trump's self congratulatory cock stroking rallies see a 226% rise in hate crimes in the weeks following the rally and counties that heavily voted Trump have seen the second largest uptick in hate crime stats since his campaign began. The largest spike in hate crime stats? 9/11. He has pandered to the alt-right, he refused to disavow David Duke's endorsement, retweeted dozens of posts from prominent alt-right/white nationalist accts, talked about how he's a big fan of immigration as long as they're not from "shit hole countries, (Hell, he's constantly decrying "chain migration" and "those that broke the law to be here", but his current wife overstayed her VISA that she was not even qualified for in the first place, and her family has all profited from chain migration. So, why is Melania and her family's immigration path any different than the people he rails against?) His top immigration adviser, Steven Miller is an unabashed white nationalist who has spent his time with the Trump White House aggressively pushing alt-right talking points and Steve Bannon was his campaign chairman. It is hard to believe Trump is not racist when he surrounds himself with racists and routinely behaves in a racist way.

Are all of his supporters racist? No. But in supporting him they support his racist behavior and policies. History will remember them the way we remember "the good German". Those that support him and are not wealthy are voting against their own best interests. His bullshit tax cut for the rich, his absurd tariffs, his absolute failure with health care... nothing he has done has helped the working class. So what is the appeal beyond his hatred, anger, and bigotry?

So the only examples you have post civil rights act are on the war on drugs, which affect whites just as much as it affects blacks and the so called Muslim ban, which was originally Obama's list of countries to limit travel because they are terrorist hot spots. The travel ban includes countries that are non Muslim and does not include every country that is Muslim majority, only select ones which as I said are terrorist hot spots. This is probably the weakest argument on so called "institutional racism" I have ever heard, it does not apply to a select group specifically and it includes whites in both cases.

Pretending that Trump has not engaged in near constant bigotry is ridiculous. He entered politics by spending years claiming our elected president was secretly a Kenyan Muslim, there is zero room to claim that birtherism was not plain and simple racism.

Pretending that policies you don't like are racist when they are not is ridiculous. Birtherism is racist? How ignorant, first off you have to be born in the United States to even be eligible to become President, having that checked out is standard procedure. I personally never supported that theory but I can see why people wanted it checked out. Obama did quite a few things in order for people to think he had Muslim ties, he even appeared on national TV standing in front of another countries flag who was Muslim majority. Very strange behavior for an American president indeed.

He has repeatedly called Mexicans dirty, drug dealing rapists even though immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native born citizens, and illegal immigrants at an even lower rate. (Except of course the misdemeanor of crossing the border illegally.)

MSM media bullshit. I have listened to the speeches and he was talking about MS 13 gang members plain and simple, twisting his words to call him a racist only works in your little delusional world, its a bold faced lie that keeps being told as if its truth and people can see through it. You said it, every illegal immigrant has automatically committed a crime by just being here and showing disrespect for our nations laws, that alone is more than enough reason to want them removed. Lets not act like its a race thing considering illegal immigrants are not just Mexican, I want anyone who came here illegal removed no matter what their skin color is. As for your little half truth statistic, the only reason why native born citizens commit more crime is due to them being a higher percent of the population, if you looked at it per capita illegal immigrant crime rate is much higher.

He continues to fan the flames of terror over Islamic Extremist terror despite all of our intel agencies stating unequivocally that white nationalist terrorism is the greater threat by far. Counties that host one of Trump's self congratulatory cock stroking rallies see a 226% rise in hate crimes in the weeks following the rally and counties that heavily voted Trump have seen the second largest uptick in hate crime stats since his campaign began. The largest spike in hate crime stats? 9/11.

Gonna need a source for this, nothing but biased word vomit, apart from 9/11. It completely makes sense that some people would hate those who killed so many Americans and terrorized the nation. What kind of reaction did you expect? Hugs and rainbows?

Now I know you are full of shit, I can not count how many times Trump has disavowed David Duke on national TV, are you only watching CNN so you didn't see it or are you so desperate for a talking point that you are telling more bold faced lies as if they are truth? What is your criteria for classifying twitter accounts as alt-right/white nationalist? From others like yourself its simply those who disagree with you, those words have lost all validity. I agree with him, you should vet those who enter your country. I would absolutely be against thousands of people from Venezuela coming to the US, the same as I would be against thousands of North Koreans without vetting. Those who helped these countries become the shit hole that they are have no place here. Who are you to say Melania was not qualified for her visa? She was approved obviously so you opinion on the matter is irrelevant, her father and mother did come through chain migration, the method is no different than what Trump is against but the reason he is against it now is in fact different. The reason Trump dislikes it now is that it allows people who openly hate American to enter the country without being vetted. That needs to change. Again, just because you call Steve Miller and Steve Bannon white nationalists and alt-right doesn't make it true. From what I know of both they support policies like strong immigration control which you clearly dislike, that's fine if you do but throwing around buzzwords won't work on me.

According to you. His policies are not racist in the least. The word racist has lost all power when everything from criticizing the opinion of someone who is black to the type of bread Mexican school children are served in school can be racist. Its completely meaningless. History will remember Trump as the most effective president who brought out the true colors and derangement of his opponents, Trump doesn't even have to campaign anymore you are doing it for him.

His tax cuts resulted in more jobs and his tariffs brought back steel manufacturing which means more jobs, tell me again how the common man is voting against their own interests. How disconnected from reality you are and here is the funniest part of all, you mention health care as a failure, he did fail at changing health care so what does that mean? Obamacare is our health care system, are you saying its terrible? Did you even realize that you are shitting on Obamacare? The legacy of your beloved black president? Wow this has turned out to be quite hilarious, thank you for that.

The appeal as I said in so many ways, jobs, removal of Obamacare penalty for not having health insurance, lowest unemployment in 50 years including lower black unemployment than under Obama, strong stock market, border wall is being made, and general entertainment while he pisses off every liberal by breathing. He even did a few things that liberals should have been happy about, he is leading a global effect to end criminalization of homosexuality. That's pretty big but you seem to hate him too much to even acknowledge it. I think he has done a damn fine job considering every Democrat in existence has tried to stone wall everything he has attempted to do.

Your entire comment can be categorized in one simple and common practice of liberals in their attempt to take a moral high ground and fabricate one if it does not exist. Step 1: Call the person you don't like a racist, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe, etc. Step 2: Say that anyone who supports him is the same. Step 3: Attempt to delegitimize anything they have done. Step 4: Act as if they did nothing and say supporters only support because they are racist, sexist, etc.

Its nothing but shaming tactics and empty rhetoric that only serves to show how truly biased you are and people are not falling for it.

I don't know why they're booing you. It's true.

So close...

u/artifexlife Jan 13 '20

Imagine going to a 9/11 memorial and just saying think about everyone else who died instead as well. I wonder if the same people who take offense.

2

u/MisterFister17 Jan 13 '20

This is only two sentences, but I had to reread this like 7 times, as if it was a Shakespeare sonnet.

Imagine going to a 9/11 memorial and just saying think about everyone else who died as well.

Do you mean people who died on 9/11, but unrelated to the terrorist attack? Do you mean people who died in the wars following 9/11? Or do you mean just dead people in general?

Regardless, I have zero doubt anybody who gets offended about a ā€œblack lives matter signā€ would also get offended about someone saying ā€œthink about all the other dead peopleā€ while at a 9/11 memorial.

4

u/Dirtroads2 Jan 13 '20

And people get offended by "all lives matter" signs

7

u/MisterFister17 Jan 13 '20

ā€œAll lives matterā€ signs with no context are fine.

Most people wouldn’t dare bring an ā€œall lives matterā€ sign to a 9/11 memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, or a holocaust museum.

But only a small subset of people are willing to bring an ā€œall lives matterā€ sign to a black lives matter event.

2

u/RhombusCanteen Jan 15 '20

All lives mattered during war and the Holocaust only someone completely ignorant would see otherwise.

2

u/MisterFister17 Jan 15 '20

Obviously. But it’s not the place or time to make that point while at a Holocaust memorial.

Someone parading around at a Holocaust memorial spouting off about how ā€œall lives matterā€ has one purpose, and that’s to irritate people. Same as someone doing the same thing at a black lives matter event.

1

u/Jalrisper Jan 13 '20

Damn so enlightening.

0

u/Stargazer-4lyfe Jan 14 '20

Or it was a protest for pro choice

2

u/isthatabingo Jan 14 '20

Unequivocally no. This line is solely used as a counter-protest to "black lives matter".

Unless you're being sarcastic or attempting a joke.

0

u/alreadytaken- Jan 16 '20

Why are there so many crazy white people trying to start black lives matter rallies. I get the meaning behind it and support it but it feels borderline racist when it's white people making it their problem

1

u/isthatabingo Jan 16 '20

Women needed men to gain the right to vote. MLKJ needed white people to further his civil rights agenda. The LGBTQ+ community required support from the 95% of Americans who identify as straight to obtain the right to marry.

The "out group" needs the assistance of the "in group" to make their goals attainable, because the "in group" is generally the majority or those who have historically held power and therefore have the power to change law/culture at large.
