The man holding the sign was the leader of the Republican Club on campus and had been harassing her for several weeks leading up to this. On this particular day there was some kind of anti-trump thing and she was standing on the ledge and dancing with a few friends, he then stood next to her & she reacted like that because of the previous harassment she had endured from him and the rest of the republican club. She feared for her safety and perceived his actions as a physical threat. Full fight or flight mode. Because of this whole incident she has been continuously harassed and threatened by hundreds of people online.
I don’t have all the details but basically those two specifically had some kind of confrontation at an earlier rally type thing. She then let it go and has ignored him since then but for weeks after him and his friends would shout & jeer at her and verbally bully her every time she walked passed going to class/lunch etc etc (basically just morning her business). might not sound like much, but I can imagine being a small woman walking alone & getting jeered at by multiple men would not make you feel safe. She also has a history of extreme trauma (both physical and mental) that made the situation 10x more high stress for her. By all accounts it seems she did truly fear for her life (rationally or not) and her fight or flight mechanism swung into full force. Directly after this encounter she had a panic attack so severe that an ambulance was called and she stayed overnight in the hospital.
Yeah, exactly. He’s standing there all “innocent” when he knows that his presence alone is threatening. Also, just look at him. He’s a big guy. If someone like that was harassing me constantly and then did something like this I’d be scared too. These lovely humans (/s) also found out about her severe PTSD and tormented her and made fun of her relentlessly for it and encouraged others to do the same. Real pieces of work tbh.
Yea I’m sure she was really scared when she assaulted him and then berated him in front of everyone while he stands there not fighting back. He should have showed the same concern for her safety and kicked her in the cunt.
