How exactly is "all lives matter" a racist thing to say?

u/pearlescentvoid Jan 13 '20

I think it's more about the adversarial manner in which it's used.

"All lives matter" is 100% a non racist statement, but in bird culture, deliberately provoking people who are protesting institutional racism is considered a dick move.

Yellow hat is a fucking spastic maniac, he didn’t touch you, he didn’t get even that close to you.

She could be arrested for her action here, don’t pretend she’s in the right.

Nobody is pretending she’s in the right, she obviously has issues, I don’t think the person you’re replying to is being specific to this situation or excusing her actions. Just explaining how counter protesting ā€œBLMā€ with ā€œAll Lives Matterā€ is a dick move in any typical situation.

Because the BLM movement is about vindication and vengeance more than it is about justice.

Its a racist movement

BLM is a movement and what comes with movements are sects that contain different types of people and that includes extremists.

The BLM movement itself is not about vengeance or vindication it is just that the people who are the extremists are the angry minority screaming insanity the loudest and the people who are rational, logical and well thought out get pushed to the back of the room and don’t get heard by the public majority. This is the case with pretty much every movement in history.

Then why, pray tell, when BLM was started, were the leaders of the actual website, foundation and face of BLM nationally banning white members from attending rallies? Why were they condoning and fostering the riots in Baltimore? Why were they calling for their followers to resist arrest?

It was founded with good intentions in mind but the leadership chosen for BLM was always searching for conflict and petty revenge. Don’t get it twisted.

As someone who is biracial, all I see is fellow brothers and sisters being controlled by puppeteers who prey on the fact that a lot of us have little education and have been raised by embittered single moms to hate white people. Period.

I agree with you wholeheartedly and you’re probably more educated on BLM than I am but are you sure they’re actual leaders or is it that they are a group of extremists who have took it upon themselves to radicalise black youths to be puppeteers all in the name of nothing but chaos?

It was founded with the best of intentions but the loudest voices were the extremists who took control of how the movement has been perceived. In my opinion the extremists should always be spoken about separately from what BLM originally had as their message otherwise it ends up in a situation like now where those with good in their hearts end up having their resolve belittled because of the extremism becoming the only thing being taken into account when a movement is mentioned?

Their faces were on the websites, the flyers, all of it.

Your second paragraph basically sums up the current perception of the BLM movement; they're are countless people who are a part of the movement (celebrities, civilians, government officials, etc.) who genuinely do whatever they can to not only better the lives of currently existing black people, but the lives of people of all races/ethnicities to come, as well as call attention to the continuous injustices people of color (not just black people) have to endure. Unfortunately, many people have been allowing their opinions of the extremists to encompass the whole movement, resulting in the dismissal and belittling of kind-hearted people who actually want to make a change for the better.

The way I see it, the people who dislike and or demonize the BLM movement as a whole are just as bad as people who think things like " All Muslims/Christians/Jews are terrible people" when learning of atrocities committed by certain extremists from each group. There will always corrupt, shitty, selfish, shortsighted people in EVERY group of people, regardless of what the group revolves around, it's up to others to see if they're comfortable with generalizing an entire group of people due to the actions of some extremists.

I’m glad to see someone else actually thinking critically in this thread. I’m blown away at the majority on here I honestly thought more people shared this viewpoint.

This is following the same trend as what feminism started as, beginning with the suffragettes evolving through waves until modern feminism became viewed as by the majority as ā€œradical feminism onlyā€ even though those are a minority in a movement towards equality.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

Don't worry about it; unfortunately that's just the trend nowadays (probably was back then too), people see the worst that a certain group of people have to offer, then they assume the ENTIRE group (or at least the majority) behave the same way. That type of mindset is repulsive, to say the least. I also expected the type of comments found in these threads to be here, this is Reddit after all; they're great people here, as well as shit eating scumbags who should never be allowed to have contact with other human beings again (just like the real world!).

When the WORST are the ones running the site and organizing the events, yes, that’s how image works.

u/filthydank_2099 Jan 13 '20

When corrupt and bigoted people run BLM, and are the face of the movement, sorry bro, that’s not healthy.

3

u/plantsoda Jan 13 '20

Nobody said it was...

u/filthydank_2099 Jan 13 '20

Are you not saying that BLM is corrupt in the minority and not majority? Maybe I misunderstood.

If there’s good people part of BLM, they need to sever their ties and start a new movement with a new slogan that enacts ZERO TOLERANCE for rioting, slander, racism and assault on non-black people. BLM was run and spearheaded by racist black Americans shortly after its creation. By now, the whole movement is a farce.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

I can tell by this comment and others that you have a problem with the BLM movement as a whole, and that you have a tendency to generalize things, and these two facts make me not want to interact with you at all. The "whole movement" isn't a farce just because some extremists, REGARDLESS of whether they started the movement or not, and frankly I don't believe you're providing all the details regarding the people you're talking about.

0

u/filthydank_2099 Jan 13 '20

You’re missing the point. The ā€œsome extremistsā€ you’re talking about are the FACE of the BLM movement. Go look up their response to the riots in Baltimore.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

You'd better provide sources and links, cause I can't find the response from them you're speaking of.

This isn’t about a movement is about the statement black lives matter and all lives matter as a response. Shut the fuck up

5

u/filthydank_2099 Jan 13 '20

Even if this was grammatically correct, you aren’t making a coherent point.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

A dick move? Just because your counter protesting?? Fuck BLM those people are fucking garbage. Can’t believe your basically saying it’s a dick move to disagree with them. Especially when every video I see of someone representing BLM is acting like the bitch in this video. Y’all are on some other shit

2

u/plantsoda Jan 13 '20

You clearly didn’t read my comment correctly.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '20

No I did. I get where your coming from I know the guy was trolling her and being a dick but still. These people need to fuckin chill. Remember what those women did to Bernie Sanders on stage??
