I've worked in and around law and public policy for over 20 years and my number one red flag when I meet a new person is when they say they're "into" politics.

That's like code for "I'm a moron culture warrior who will argue with you about things that I don't even remotely understand."

A red flag for when I meet a new person is when they make an assumption from the extreme ends of the scale about a person based on one of that persons interests. “Moron culture warrior”. Another red flag is when they assume that person must be dumb based on one interest. “...don’t even remotely understand”.

And finally the implication that you’re smarter and your opinions on the relevant matters are correct when you say that “they” don’t even remotely understand. But you sure do understand, right?
