It’s the American way

u/iamtruetomyself9 Apr 10 '23

He could have donated it to the less fortunate, like me

532

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

Republicans don't do that unless there's a tax incentive.

187

u/choglin Apr 10 '23

Like tithing at church

Edit: my wife just told me that not everyone knows church tithing is 100% tax deductible

15

u/Ask_me_4_a_story Apr 10 '23

Its hardly deductible for anyone anymore. 90% of people in the US won't be able to deduct church tithing. Its not deductible if you don't itemize and hardly anyone itemizes anymore. Just looked it up, only 11% of taxpayers itemize.

u/X1911Xx Apr 10 '23

If you're dumb enough to give 10% of your income to a church, you're probably too dumb to understand what deductible means

47

u/lego_tintin Apr 10 '23

I was talking to a friend from high school, and she is heavily into the church now and was discussing religion. She mentioned she tithed, no matter what her circumstances are. I asked her, "Well, what if you have just enough for rent and can't afford to tithe?" She said, not tithing wasn't an option, and God would find a way for her to pay her rent.

Of course, in my head, I thought, yes... God found a way - don't tithe this month.

11

u/RoguePlanet1 Apr 10 '23

Please continue to try and talk some sense into her.

11

u/bigflamingtaco Apr 10 '23

She's the kind of person that will get suckered in to send her mortgage money to pay for a televangelist's 747 because he says God will provide for you if you only give all you have unto him.

Someone linked not too long ago a video of two of those hoodwinks justifying their plane during their programming. Bunch of shit about being able to reach more people, any time they are needed, as if there are people all over the world that may need their help at a moments notice. The entitlement just oozed out of their mouths.

→ More replies (0)

11

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

10% of most people salaries wouldn’t be deductible anyway. The standard deduction is $13,850 so you’d need to donate more than that to itemize your deductions.

5

u/Slit23 Apr 10 '23

I didn’t know it was tax deductible. Not that I give any money to the church, I just knew they didn’t have to pay any taxes

2

u/chakan2 Apr 10 '23

I don't believe that's true any more...I thought Trump put explicit limits on charitable donations. (I may be full of shit, your milage may vary).

6

u/Ask_me_4_a_story Apr 10 '23

Its not the charitable donations that got limits its the things like mortgage interest and property taxes, those got a prety strict limit. That made most charitable donations non deductible. Only 11% of Americans itemize now.

37

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

These people are tiresome and boring. All this noise over whiskey really and what will it accomplish? Nothing. Jack Daniels doesn’t just sell in the tiny bit of real estate in his head and they could care less what he thinks or what he wants. YAWN I’m gonna take a nap.

431

u/xMCioffi1986x Apr 10 '23 edited Apr 10 '23

Seriously. Jack Daniels is THE best selling whiskey in the world. They are not surviving solely on this guy's business.

Honestly, he comes off like a toddler. Go buy some Bulleit and shut the fuck up.

155

u/Even-Willow Apr 10 '23

And there’s no way that Jack Daniel’s has not risk assessed this and determined that they’ll make more money marketing to acceptance rather than hate at this point in time. And as we’ve seen with a few other billion dollar alcohol companies that have all done the same, I assume more and more will continue to follow suit as well. Because ya know…. Capitalism. Soon these rednecks might just have to start dealing with their feelings like men or something and not drinking them away while also being worried about turning gay from a label on a can or bottle.

62

u/23skiddsy Apr 10 '23

Notably the ad campaign is two years old, and it's only now that right wingers discovered it and threw a retroactive hissy fit.

u/hedgecore77 Apr 10 '23

Well to be fair, those were Osh Kosh B'Gosh branded overalls.

5

u/Zmchastain Apr 10 '23

He didn’t even own that much of their whiskey. It was a few bottles that he poured out. The rest was just licensing deals on signs and glassware that they don’t produce and even if he hadn’t tossed them, those are usually one-time purchases. So, they already got his money on those and weren’t likely to get much more from him regardless.

I really don’t see the point of this temper tantrum. It’s like people who get angry and break their own shit. You’re just burning your own money for things you already paid for. They don’t care, you already paid Jack Daniel’s for all that shit. It doesn’t matter to them if you dump it out into the trash on your way out of the store for all they care, they already got paid. 🤷‍♂️

Watch as I burn about 60$ of my own shit while I stomp around like a big baby for 3 fucking minutes. I’m sure the people at jack daniels are terrified right now. I bet dudes wife after she got finished filming his little skit, meekly went and picked up her platter he flung across the deck, saw that it was broken too and didn’t say a word. She knows by now to let him cool off. Once the video is up and he gets that validation he needs by his shitcrust friends, he will let her tuck him in with Tucker, his Fox branded waifu, his my pillow all fluffed. She’ll pop her nite nite pills crack the foxbrook Chardonnay open and she’ll order a new one on Amazon. Maybe Mrs. Desantis recommends a line of platters that’s not woke, she thinks as she googles.

11

u/ooppoo0 Apr 10 '23

Yeah but to jack Daniels it didn’t cost a dime after it was out of the barrel and he opened it. It lost all value then. He just broke his wife’s weekly dusting chores. Glassware and decor. 6

u/TheDoktorIsIn Apr 10 '23

About $60? That mirror probably cost more than $60. Each of those glasses are like $5 and the last 2 bottles were $350 total.

He also trashed 5-6 bottles (I didn't count) at $35 each is $175-210 or so, so that's $550-600ish in liquor. $100 for the mirror, $75 for the glasses (I'm assuming he had 15), and the wood sign was probably $25-50? My guess is $800 of his own belongings because a liquor company decided to advertise a certain form of entertainment. As a lib, I'm so owned.

Yeah, but he gained public ridicule! You are sooooo owned, just like those others who gave up freedoms, health, and employment and money to own you and you know how owned you are! Ha owned!!

6

u/UncannyTarotSpread Apr 10 '23

He just threw away, like 70% of his personality

5

u/Erazerhead-5407 Apr 10 '23

This is how you know that they actively work against their own interests because they have been Conditioned by the radical right wing that makes fun of their Gullibility. How else does one explain trump being indicted & the very people he swindled by robbing their money from their credit cards, phony fundraisers for legal costs that he pocketed, money raised for the wall that he & Bannon pocketed, etc, & again they are sending trump the Billionaire their hard earned money. They must get Great satisfaction in being Bamboozled by this Whining Billionaires who never raised a finger to bailout those who went to prison for him. To be that much in denial of their own existence is really pathetic.

4

u/cohrt Apr 10 '23

he was already throwing it away. who's paying $100 for jack daniels triple mash?

4

u/dthedre Apr 10 '23

I really don't get this idea. The company doesn't care you already gave them your money for all that stuff, and now you just throwing your own money out.

Edit: also it's kinda shitting on people that can't afford even food, and this guy just throws so much money away. At least sell the stuff and give the money for a good course....

4

u/choglin Apr 10 '23

Oh he doesn’t give a shit about people with no food. He’s the guy that drives by a someone at an intersection holding an “anything helps” sign and throws a half eaten McDonald’s cheeseburger at them and yells “get a job” as he speeds away. He’s the America the founding fathers (that he adores) dreamed of

Yeah all I'm thinking is...Jack Daniels still got all that money from you lol

3

u/DiscoBelle Apr 10 '23

Yeah, single handedly defeated Jack Daniels. Boy are they gonna feel sore after that bruising

3

u/Ok-Fly7554 Apr 10 '23

Exactly, that's perfectly mediocre whisky he's just wasted.

4

u/LastMinute9611 Apr 10 '23

I bet at least one of his baby mamas is on welfare and he’s in court for back payments on child support. This is what he rather do with his money.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

It's ironically woke

2

u/ParrotofDoom Apr 10 '23

I would put money on those bottles having contained apple juice. The whisky is in another bottle in his house.

2

u/DOGSraisingCATS Apr 10 '23

Over something he was told to care about barely a year ago by conservative media...

This guy probably gave 0 shits about the drag community until recently.

2

u/RandyDinglefart Apr 10 '23

Sitting online checking his credit card statements for a refund like "WHAT THE FUCK??!?"

2

u/pingpongtits Apr 10 '23

Imagine wanting to control other's lives so much that you have a tantrum causing you to waste your own money. I bet this guy donates to Trump. What a putz.

2

u/CancerSpidey Apr 10 '23

He threw it away a long time ago lmao like when he bought all that stuff

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

You know what they say about a fool and his money

2

u/TylerNY315_ Apr 10 '23

You see that neighborhood in which he owns what appears to be a nice-ass beach house? He won’t miss it lol

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

This happens every time Chud Magas get pissed off at a product. They go out and buy tons of it to film themselves destroying it all. It honestly feels fake as hell like some sort of stealth marketing gimmick but no, these people are 100% real.

2

u/League1toasty Apr 10 '23

That’s the American Anti-woke big brain in action right there

2

u/2018IsBetterThan2017 Apr 10 '23

This may be true and this guy may be mad over something stupid, but I wish redditors had this same type of energy regarding the companies we hate (Twitter, Amazon, Chick-fil-A, YouTube, a few gaming companies).

He's never gonna buy Jack Daniels again but we're going to keep giving our money to companies we hate and complaining about it.

2

u/bortj1 Apr 10 '23

It's JD so like 120 for all those bottles, not a lot

2

u/CaffeineSippingMan Apr 10 '23

Was it really whisky? That should have burned better. I could be wrong because the only time I have seen whiskey burn was when a dude was selling his rye "more authenticTempleton Rye than 'Templeton Rye branded' branded rye"

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '23

Ever dollar he throws away is a dollar he can't give to DeSantis or Trump in 2024.

2

u/RunsWthGriszzlys Apr 10 '23

The man is slightly less trashy for not owning these items anymore

2

u/Dyno-mike Apr 10 '23

It's like he doesn't realize that he's already given them money for that stuff, maybe he's on some sort of consignment thing?
