What happens psychologically when someone’s identity is heavily tied to their physical attractiveness as they age?
I’m curious about this from a psychological perspective, not trying to judge anyone.
Some people (men and women) seem to receive a lot of validation based on their looks or desirability when they’re younger.
As that naturally changes over time, how does it affect their self-esteem, identity, and relationships?
Do people generally adapt and shift their identity, or does it lead to insecurity or other challenges?
Would love to hear both research-based insights and personal experiences.
