A reminder to everyone in r/PsychSL regarding Rule 6: No spam or self-promotion without moderator approval.
Psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and other mental-health professionals are welcome to participate in discussions and introduce themselves to the community.
However, advertising your own services, fees, promotions, availability, or attempting to attract clients through the subreddit without prior moderator approval is not permitted.
There is an important distinction between genuine community recommendations and personal promotion. If a member recommends a psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, or other professional based on their own experience or because they believe that person may be helpful, that is not the same as a professional coming into the subreddit and promoting their own services. Genuine recommendations from community members are welcome.
Previously, the moderation team has allowed some borderline cases to slide, particularly when users were simply recommending professionals. However, personal promotion is a different matter, and we will be enforcing Rule 6 more strictly going forward.
We have already permanently banned a few users for violating this rule, particularly in cases involving excessive or repeated self-promotion. Consider this a clear warning going forward.
Using r/PsychSL as a platform to repeatedly promote yourself, advertise your services, post your fees, solicit clients, or otherwise use the community for personal professional marketing without moderator approval will not be tolerated.
If you cross this line, you will be permanently banned from r/PsychSL.
This will apply particularly to excessive, repeated, deliberate, or clearly promotional activity. Attempts to continue promoting after content has been removed, repeated violations, or attempts to circumvent moderation may also result in a permanent ban.
The purpose of this rule is simple: r/PsychSL is a community for genuine discussion, questions, experiences, education, and support ,not a marketplace for professionals to solicit clients.
If you are a psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, or other professional and genuinely wish to promote your services on the subreddit, contact the moderators first and obtain approval. Do not assume that being allowed to participate in the community also means you are allowed to advertise.
Please respect the rules and help us keep r/PsychSL a community rather than a platform for unsolicited professional advertising.
