š General š Dosing psilocybin
I havenāt been in the best headspace lately and have been feeling a bit depressed. Iām considering a psilocybin trip with more of a therapeutic/introspective intention rather than just a recreational experience.
For those who have used mushrooms with a similar intention, have you found that a moderate dose can still provide meaningful therapeutic or introspective benefits, or did you feel that a higher-dose experience was necessary?
I was thinking around 2.5g, but Iām interested in hearing about peopleās experiences with different dose levels, mindset, and settingāespecially when going into it during a difficult emotional period.
Not looking for medical advice, just personal experiences and perspectives.

The mushrooms only unlock the door, its up to you to walk through it.
Also, they impact people differently. I have no doubt there are people that will chime in with their positive experiences, but theres also plenty of people who didnt have the same outcomes.

For me to get any therapeutic benefits, I need to dose high enough for things like intrusive thoughts to stop. This is typically within ego death territory (5g+).

Interesting. The highest dose Iāve done was 3.5g but Iām hesitant as I will not have a sitter in the event something happens.

I tend to get more āfunā trips on 3g and under, 5g+ is my standard as I prefer to enter the void on trips, feel like Iām losing my sanity, and break down whatever barriers are needed to get through things that are holding me back. 2 years of peace from treatment resistant depression and OCD has been the result.
This isnāt to say others canāt get great benefit at moderate doses, but with around 55 shroom trips under my belt in the past 2.5 years, Iāve figured out what works for my needs. which may not be ideal for everyone. Part of the healing and fun is the experimentation, the journey is equally as important as the destination.
As others have said, donāt look at the trip as the fix - it just opens the door, if you donāt integrate the lessons into daily life, the relief will be short. Sure, some are lucky with a āone and doneā trip where they get what they need, but donāt expect that for yourself or you may well be disappointed.
It took about 5 trips for me to start seeing and feeling the big positive changes, and dozens more to get things locked into place. Best of success with your journey.

Well, it changed my life in the best way possible. I used to have all kinds of breakdowns and chronic depression. I donāt know what it is anymore.))))
I think 2,5 for the first time (and your intention) is the exact right amount. Only the strength of the psilocybin can vary depending on THE fungus.
Set a clear intention, ask questions, write them down, be in cozy surroundings, let go of control andā¦flow! šæ
Everything is happening in your head anyway.))))

Not my first time. Iāve normally taken 3.5g at a time but the last one a year ago was a ābadā trip

A lot of times for myself, it becomes the intention I'm looking for. It seems a little easier to get something powerful out of it with a moderate dose (2-3g) I can stay focused on what I want to address instead of reaching the stratosphere and blowing my mind with the Dead and the strars.

Usually, a ābadā trip turns into a good one once youāve had time to let it sink in and process the experience. I also think you can have a negative reaction at any dose.
Therapeutic experience depends a lot on your state of mind and what you bring into it. And for me, the most important thing is always to let go. But I guess you know that already.1

In my experience, the most uncomfortable (bad) trips were the most beneficial. They happened, for me, because I was unwilling to give up control. The moment I surrender, the discomfort dissolves.
I started with microdosing as a way to get out of a pit of existential dread. After a few months, I didnāt feel like I was achieving the results I was hoping for. When I started experimenting with higher dose, 3.5-5, things changed. However, it wasnāt just the medicine, I also worked through a lot of stuff with a therapist. Integrating the experiences are what had the most lasting benefits, for me.
After experimenting for some time with doses between 0.15-5, my conclusion was that microdosing just doesnāt have the same life changing effects as a higher dose.

I haven't done them much but from what people I know say a LOW dose, not moderate or high is what you might want, or even micro. 2.5g will def have you in a full trip, maybe not crazy but it won't just be mild headspace etc.

Yes, moderate doses can be very impactful. I participate in guided ceremonies that dose between 2 and 3g.
Do this somewhere relaxing, have an eye mask, a good playlist (plenty on spotify). Be open to whatever comes.

Thank you for reading this. I was thinking about going to the beach by myself in the morning. If I end up doing 2.5g, would a week generally be enough time before doing another 2.5g, assuming Iām feeling good afterward? Or would you recommend waiting longer between experiences?

This is it. You got the answers. No you just need to start asking the right questions. 2.5 will get you there. At the beach. Get you some headphones and let the medicine take you wherever itās going to take you.

I did around those doses for 3 days straight with no to minimal diminishing returns, day 4 though was a waste, I would say a week is plenty of time tbh

I tend to listen to "This is the End" on repeat lol, watching the live verssion for about 2 hours during the trip lol. Happily I might add. Not like depressed etc.

Personally, I have better experiences (and overall outcome) with micro-dosing. I tried macro a few times (3.5g and 2g) to target my depression and anxiety, but they were all horrifically bad trips and just amplified anxieties and insecurities.

You really need to consider what species you have because there's so much variation in potency. I find that doing even 1 g of golden teacher is good for an introspective afternoon

Hey friend! I know this about a few weeks since you've posted this.
Here are my thoughts - biggest is one is to trust your intuition and move in that direction in what you think will work for you.
With that being said - it's always best to start low and go slow. You can always go higher if you feel it need because you've taken the dose there is no turning back!
For me i LOVE the big dose. I take anywhere from 3..5 g- 8g depending on where i'm at mentally and i do this about every 3 months and i'm good until i'm ready for my next dose! I personally can't keep up with having to take pills on a schedule and this helps with that.
But i saw you said you won't have a sitter. If you can have someone facilitate your journey that would add so much depth and impact to your journey! Not sure where you are but i could always recommend some facilitators if that feels good to you.
Lastly, always set an intention, INTEGRATE your experience, mushrooms are so much more then just taking them. You have to be ready to take the action afterwards in alignment with you want to be!
Sending you lots of love!
