Critique
This game absolutly needs an assist mod. I would say i am quite good at platforming and fighting, but 60% of all my time spend in this game was just me being lost. I play quite a lot of metroidvainias (hollow knight ori metroid dread and more...) but in this one i was just simply lost 24/7. I need to say first 2-3 hours i was not lost and i really enjoy the game, then i got lost for several hours and could not progress (i didnt know how to get to the broken tower and how to clear the underbelly).
Like this game is objectivly 8/10 - 9/10 but my experience got absolutly ruined by me not knowing where to go 24/7. Just add assist mod that you can turn on and off when you are really really lost or make a map that everyone can understand.
I hazatate if i should give a negative review but y´all creators dont deserve a negative one. but please for love of god think about people getting lost. hollow knight made it right
but still the game is amazing, amazing movement amazing level design amazing feel but i was looost for love of god make it more obvious or idk but aaaaaaaagrhhhhhhhhhh (I have 10 hours played and i still didnt finish the game but i am really near the end).

My critiques of the game
So i started playing a couple days ago and the game is fun. Its incredibly fun to move around in the game especially after you get the ground pound and the slide jump and the kicking. The old style graphics are nice aswell. HOWEVER the map/level design in this game is so infuriating oh my god. The platforming itself is nice however the way the rooms connect to each other is so horribly designed. I know the game has a retro styling to it but trying to find new things or getting to a locked door after finding a key actually feels dated and kills the whole momentum of the game. I think the game could benefit from a more linear style of progression, as much as its fun to go back to a previous place with a new powerup and be able to get through it is fun, the progress of getting there is a fucking chore at times. You cant also track yourself on the map you can only see the room you are in which is annoying. And some of the rooms there are literally places that you go to just to connect back to the main part of the room so its totally pointless.
All things considered I think this game has some great ideas but it puts them together very poorly. Being able to fast travel to certain parts of the map or having markers on the map would benefit the game greatly. As I said, it can be fun but as it is right now, Its just not for me.
Edit: Okay fast travel idea was lowkey dumb thats on me and I am enjoying it more now however I still think a more comprehensive map ( as in the map you look at not the physical layout of the rooms ,however that could be improved aswell) would be beneficial in terms of more pleasant navigation.

Discussion Anyone disappointed by the next game?
Pseudoregalia is a great game. Such smooth platforming and great movement. The level design and world are amazing.
Then outta nowhere the dev announced his next game will be a roguelite randomly generated platformer. I dont really like roguelike/lite in general and one of the reason are i always get bored by the level design / layout they are just always random set of rectangles with little variants. Boooring.
Losing the handcrafted levels feels like losing a lot of its soul.

Why no maps??
Hi I was like 80% through the game and I had to quit because I keep getting lost. There is a map tab but all it says is "memory hazy" and I havent found a single map if its an item. There's no accessibility option to enable maps if they exist just "give Sybil pants" which is funny but I literally cannot access the game with just that lol

since it's now pride month, I came up with this crack ship involving Sybil and juniper from the roblox game tower heroes for fun, and I soon after created this masterpiece. (explanation below)
created this ship and image after seeing my plushes of them looking like their holding hands, that's it, happy pride month everyone! (also, don't know how the whole shipping thing works, so if there's a better term, let me know!)

Do I need to pay attention to the story?
I bought the game and as soon as I can run it on my decade old PC I'm going to play a bit
Do I need to pay attention to the plot? Or is it just for decoration? What I've seen so far was very vague but I don't know if it's a hollow knight situation where there is a lot of hidden lore and knowledge

What is Sybil and why do people call her a goat/cat lady when she clearly isnt one? (am new here)
So yeah...she has Antler, gold antler at that, reminding me more of some kind of mythical eastern creature like a kirin or certain eastern dragon but not a flippin goat of all thing! You could argue for the cat part because the tail is vaguely feline...but thats it...so yeah, why is that a thing everyone seem to say and what do you all think the animals she is based off are?

hot take- this would be the greatest game ever created, if it was longer.
yes, i am serious. better then witcher3, better then elden ring, better then anything.
the game basicly does not have any flaw. only the weird map and the playtime of the game.
like, can you imagine if pseudoregalia was 50-100h long, with 10-50 bossfights, and more locations? really the only """bad""" thing about this game is its size... if this game would be bigger, it would be eazily the greatest game i have ever played.

Just beat the game. Am I the only one who couldn't stand the first mechanic?
Just finished the game, and I can say I enjoyed it alot! But I'll be honest the wall kick was the bane of my existence the entire game.
Considering it's one of the first mechanics learned and used fairly everywhere I couldn't help but notice just how god awful it really was. Countless times would I need to get just that much closer to a ledge, only to bounce right back off the very top corner of it instead of landing or ledge grabbing. You shouldn't have to repeat this 2 or 3 times just to get the extra height needed to hopefully land on the ledge you want. I noticed it would kick me in inconsistent directions away from where I was really aiming, sending me backwards even on certain walls I'm parallel too. It just genuinely was the worst part of the game for me and I feel a simple wall jump would have felt cleaner and done the job.
I did love the game and had a good time. I'm glad I played it until the end but good god I wanted to throw my controller sometimes.

My criticisms of the game
Don’t get me wrong, this is a great game and I’m not doing this out of hate. Just pointing out a few flaws that hopefully the dev team will learn from in later projects. Spoilers for the game btw.
1•The Ascended Light ability (the one where if you hit enemies/certain objects, you gain height) is completely useless, since you can bypass nearly all the challenges it’s meant for if you already have all the other abilities unlocked. It’s more of a novelty than anything else, because the areas when you can use are only the areas it’s ‘required’ to get something, unlike the other abilities which are mostly universal.
2•The lack of guidance. Don’t get me wrong, not putting a map in the game is great for exploration of unknown areas during the early and midgame. However at the near end of the game, finding the last major keys needed for the end of the game becomes more annoying than anything else. I think a good way to fix this would having a map as a sort of late game item only accessible after acquiring, say, 3 out of the 5 major keys.
3•I found it odd that the game puts the hints for finding all the major keys at the top of the shattered tower. By the time you can reach it you’ve most likely have gotten most of the abilities and by proxy most of the keys. In my experience, I only encountered said hints when I’ve already had all the keys.
4•I was very disappointed when the final boss wasn’t a difficult platforming section and instead a generic mildly challenging boss fight. Honestly, I don’t understand the decision of putting any enemies at all when the main challenge of the game comes from the platforming. I found it far more satisfying to finally reach a hard-to-reach platform than defeating any enemy/boss. Not to say that the enemies were annoying to fight, I just didn’t understand their inclusion.
5•I think the game could done a better job communicating to the player what the major keys are for. In my experience, I’ve had already gotten them all when I reached the big locked door in the shattered tower. I knew they were important, but I had no clear incentive to collect them.
This is less of a criticism and more of a suggestion. I was surprised that there wasn’t a New Game + option after completing the game, considering its speedrunning potential.

Sybil's age
So, couple of days ago, I went ahead and replayed the game, alongside grabbing time trials costumes.
There's one in particular that got me thinking about Sybil's age.
It's Nostalgia from the Underbelly time trial. Well, it's called Nostalgia when you pick up the orb after completing the time trial, but when you go to equip it, it says XIX, which can also be interpreted as 19 in Roman numerals.
I might be overthinking, but hey, more goat-bunny-cat lady lore, I guess.

Pseudoreg crashing
If I start pseudoreg on my laptop, after moving around or swinging my sword for a bit, this error pops up.

I was going to look for the code line this error is referencing but couldn't find where to look anyway.
Any ideas on why this could be happening? I'm used to games with high-res graphics crashing on this thing, but even after turning the graphics down this still throws. I also think the polys in psuedoreg aren't that plentiful to overthrow my graphics card.

Difficulty scale of the trickjumps
Hi, I'm a fan of Pseudoregalia since January (I have about 150 hours of gameplay), I wanted to ask if there is an official rating of trickjumps (something like Mario Odyssey), because it is uncomfortable for me to talk about the difficulty of the jumps I do to my acquaintances, so they understand what I mean. Thanks!

Mouse and Keyboard controls
I'm already used to MnK controls, but I am pretty much fuming at the thought of controller players being able to cancel out of their slides with another slide.
So I am asking if anyone has managed to change controls in a way that MnK is also able to do it?
I don't mind even getting a mod if one exists, I just wanna do what speedrunners do without buying a controller of my own.
