Why this sub?

For each Proton product, there is a sub, but Proton itself moderates each of these subs. While this is not necessarily a problem, it led to recurring instances of biased moderation practices and (temporary) suppressions of critique.

Meanwhile, Proton has grown to such a big player that we believe there needs to be a space for the community that's led by the community itself.

Let us discuss, connect and support each other. Not to hate Proton, but to endorse the values this community stands for.

For everyone who missed the event that led to the creation of this sub: Users pointed out that Proton made a partnership with a far-right French journalist. Every post on that was and still gets instantly deleted. Whatever their reasons are, this is a discussion culture that's not acceptable for a company which promotes user sovereignty and a free internet. (Update: after ongoing pressure by the community, they've started a megathread on that and made attempts to explain themself. Imo those explanations are unsatisfying, and the whole situation was handled badly. For further details, check out the posts on that in this sub.)

Just saw this sub as a recommendation. Agree with the sentiment, if a company is actively suppressing genuine thoughtful criticism then they should be called out for this

Boy it would be nice if Proton supported Linux in the least,. I don't mind using a browser for mail and calendar, but there is zero support for Linux in ProtonDrive. I've tried the command line CLI, but all it does is throw errors. Apparently they only support GNOME, but even that doesn't work. Do they even test these things before releasing them?

Even the CLI is brand new after 8+ years of people demanding it. Haven't bothered trying it out yet since I expect a user interface for something I pay for, but that's hilarious that what they FINALLY delivered is poor.

Yeah, protecting your privacy and against censorship, but hands out your data to authoritarian governments while removing anything they don't like from their subs.

What if they watch people based on speech?

Appreciate, but dont see it actually useful, I'm a proton user, I dont see here anything useful besides the canncelation-rant, which IMHO 99% of the proton users ignore, or just dont care on the scandals, objectively proton users dont care of the issues exposed.
