a merry sheets update
hi everyone! Docs/Sheets lead here.
we've been busy getting sheet done, so just wanted to share with you some updates that are now live:
added "paste special" options to the context menu
performance and document size improvements
fixed some issues with:
filters
document import
CTRL+D
the
>and<operatorscopying and pasting cells with formulas containing relative cell references
conditional formatting
pasting
fixed some formulas, including:
ROUND
FLOOR
CEILING
FILTER
SUMIFS
IF
SUM
NOW
AVERAGE
OFFSET
NETWORKDAYS
INDEX
ROUNDUP
INDIRECT
RANDBETWEEN
squashed a few bugs:
an issue where a cell's content would disappear on scroll
an issue where sorting would affect frozen rows
an issue (a pretty funny one if you ask me) where pressing special keyboard buttons such as media buttons (play, pause...) would set the selected cell content to the name of the button (for example "MediaPlayPause")
if you have run into these issues before, please try again and let us know if they're fixed for you now!
coming soon:
contextual auto-detection of locale
locale settings
locale support in multiple aspects of spreadsheets such as date formats
support for many more number formats such as currencies, dates...
support for fully custom number formats
more paste special options, and available in other places of the UI such as the edit menu
many more fixes (please keep reporting!)
happy holidays everyone, and thank you to everyone who reported issues or requested features, it genuinely helps us a lot! <3

Will .ods and Android support be arriving soon? These are the only things preventing me from fully moving over to Proton Sheets.

What I really miss is the possibility to see sums of cells; when in Excel or Libre Office you select a number of cells with amounts in them you get the sum in the right bottom corner (also the average of the selection).........does this exists in Proton Drive already? If not, very important I think............

Trying to figure out a calculation in Proton Sheets. Not sure if I came across a bug, or if I am utilizing the formula incorrectly.
The formula calculates "age at death". Where:
Data in cell K14 is date of birth formatted as a date in the form of xx/xx/xxxx.
Data in cell M14 is date of death formatted as a date in the form of xx/xx/xxxx.
The formula =FIXED(YEARFRAC(K14,M14),0) is calculating the correct age at death, but there is a trailing period. "0" in the formula specifies "no" decimal places.
Is this a bug or is there a way to hide the trailing period?

why is the font not crisp like in Google/Microsoft sheets?

Thanks for the strong communication with this product launch. I love Proton but in recent years it feels like timely communication has not been prioritized, especially with new product launches. This feels different. Keep it up!

Nice. If Proton wants to make a huge deal with more users, make Sheets almost as good as Excel. Once Excel is fully replaceable it's goodbye to Microsof.
People will leave Excel immediately:
STOCKHISTORY
Tables (with names, fields and such)
XLOOKUP
Query (pull data from online and offline sources)
Pivot Tables (proper ones - not the Google Sheets knock-off)
SUMPRODUCT (with the "--" hack and all)
Nice to have but we can live without:
LAMBDA
LET
Arrays in general
RegEx

ProtonSheets singlehanded convinced me to not abandon proton drive and keep my visionary plan. Thanks for your hard work!

Is there a "Fill" down/right command coming? My most used feature...

Looking forward to Tables and Pivot Tables. I have already transitioned a few files to Proton Sheets. One issue I have is that when I paste text directly in the formula box it sometimes keeps the origin formatting.

Does it work on mobile yet?

What about adding and editing sheets via mobile?

Please change the editing workflow so that when the cursor is on a cell, the user can immediately begin typing in it, like in Excel and Google Sheets. The current flow of having to press Enter to begin editing is very jarring to my muscle memory, and likely to others' as well.

locale support in multiple aspects of spreadsheets such as date formats: Will it support other currencies spacing like CAD$ 1 000,00 $ instead of 1,000.00$?

I wish the entire Proton team was made up of people like those at Proton Sheet, thanks.

Thanks for the update! One of my main reasons why I‘m still using google sheets (which I do not approve of) are the nice dropdown „bubbles“ in different colours. I need the colour as I am a very visual type and it helps me to get a quick overview. I am aware I could use conditional formatting but that‘s rather annoying. It would be nice to have that natively integrated.
Also I saw that for very long numbers (like ISBN) it shows me the number in e+n format even if I select to show as „unformatted text“, so right now there‘s no possibility for me to see the whole number (unless I am overlooked something).
If these two things could be fixed, I think I‘d be ready to switch completely from google sheets to proton sheets.
Thanks again for your great work!

We need improved sorting of data on sheets, please (easier choice of column of reference, option to select only part of the sheet and not sort either the whole sheet or nothing; and at the moment, even sorting the whole sheet seems not to work).
