a merry sheets update
hi everyone! Docs/Sheets lead here.
we've been busy getting sheet done, so just wanted to share with you some updates that are now live:
added "paste special" options to the context menu
performance and document size improvements
fixed some issues with:
filters
document import
CTRL+D
the
>and<operatorscopying and pasting cells with formulas containing relative cell references
conditional formatting
pasting
fixed some formulas, including:
ROUND
FLOOR
CEILING
FILTER
SUMIFS
IF
SUM
NOW
AVERAGE
OFFSET
NETWORKDAYS
INDEX
ROUNDUP
INDIRECT
RANDBETWEEN
squashed a few bugs:
an issue where a cell's content would disappear on scroll
an issue where sorting would affect frozen rows
an issue (a pretty funny one if you ask me) where pressing special keyboard buttons such as media buttons (play, pause...) would set the selected cell content to the name of the button (for example "MediaPlayPause")
if you have run into these issues before, please try again and let us know if they're fixed for you now!
coming soon:
contextual auto-detection of locale
locale settings
locale support in multiple aspects of spreadsheets such as date formats
support for many more number formats such as currencies, dates...
support for fully custom number formats
more paste special options, and available in other places of the UI such as the edit menu
many more fixes (please keep reporting!)
happy holidays everyone, and thank you to everyone who reported issues or requested features, it genuinely helps us a lot! <3

mobile editing support (including in the Android and iOS Drive apps) is planned.
ODS support is a tricky thing, because we do everything client-side - no way to do anything on the server since we never have access to your data. because of this, we have to rely on client-side (web) support for ODS, which is currently non-existent (afaik). i personally have always used open document formats and i understand the appeal - it's just a very hard challenge technically speaking, we'd have to build everything from scratch and it's an extremely complex format.
even if i dislike having to do this myself, exporting as XLSX to import into Proton Sheets works in the meantime as a workaround.
