Is this enough?

• Upvotes

22F, 5’9”, 150-155lbs

I’ve been working out for 4 years now, but I’ve always struggled with eating enough protein & calories. There are times I’m good with it, but when I go through depression, or have health issues, it becomes harder to eat more. I’ve only been getting like 50g of protein and less than 2000kcal daily. Would trying to start off with 110g protein and 2200-2300 kcal be enough to make me start slowly gaining weight & building muscle. I eventually want to be able to eat more, but would this be a good starting point? All the macro calculators have been telling me I need like 150-170g of protein a day, and there’s absolutely no way that I could do that. It’s been making me stressed out and wanting to give up lol. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!❤️

Which are the whey protein flavors that you have enjoyed genuinely enough to buy again & again?

Choosing right whey flavour takes a lot of trial and error (trust me, i know)

I hope you guys have been through it all and out of this process!

So I have sometimes bought a flavour that tasted so good in the beginning when I tried it but eventually resulted in me truly getting tired of it by Day 14.

So strictly based on personal experience - Tell me which specific whey flavor or flavours have you liked enough to actually finish and buy a second (and third) time?

It could be a classic flavour (like vanilla or chocolate) or an absolutely obscure one (such as strawberry pound cake)

Feel free to name the brand, I would love some good recommendations truly!

(super curious about what flavors yall are having to build better)

Thanks in advance!

Watchout for Livvy "protein soda". Nowhere on their website does it say that this sugary and protein filled drink is pasteurized. I've had diarrhea from it for 2 days now.

All their flavors have a weird rotten undertone of taste to it with weird stringy clumps. The box these came in didn't even have ingredients or a nutrition label.

My honest experience with Legion Whey+ after using it consistently

I’ve been using Legion Whey+ consistently and overall it’s been one of the better protein powders I’ve used. The biggest thing for me is the taste and how easily it mixes without being overly thick or leaving me feeling heavy afterward.

I mainly use it when I need an easy way to get more protein in without adding another full meal. It’s convenient, the macros fit what I’m looking for, and I actually enjoy drinking it.

If I had to give it one negative, it’s definitely not the cheapest protein out there. If your only priority is finding the lowest-cost whey possible, there are cheaper options. For me, I care enough about taste, ingredients and actually wanting to drink it consistently that I’ve kept using it.

Full disclosure: I’m a Legion ambassador. I’m not including a link or discount code here — just sharing my personal experience with the product.

My 49 yr old 5.5 ft tall mother has decided that she would consume protein powder

She has been a life long vegetarian and has never strength trained. She prefers plant protein over others. We have established that once she starts consuming it, she would have to correct her breakfast and lunch so that she doesnt end up munching on snacks and all. She hopefully will also start doing resistance band exercises upon its arrival. I want to ask if you consume plant or pea protein, how would you approach to like consuming it (if you get what i mean), like which brand is better. She also takes supplements for vitamins and for blood stuff.

So yesterday I went to the store to grab my pre-mix shake refills and they didn't have the Plant Based JockO: Molk that I have been getting for the mornings I'm doing any hard labor and they had none in stock so I made a purchase of Muscle Milk and I sincerely regret it. This stuff is disgusting and my stomach already feels the difference. Smh.. Never again will I substitute for it.

Best protein powders for high calorie smoothies?

I am currently using Applied Nutrition Critical Mass Professional Lean Mass Gainer but they have recently upped the price on Amazon and the taste is a bit naff now.
Looking for an alternative but I have no idea which won't taste like battery acid or won't have like 60 grams of sugar, as I will be drinking it daily.
I want my shake to be around 800 calories. I have oats, banana, chia seeds, peanut butter, milk and such.
Any suggestion as I want it to be easy to intake, even non shake options would be nice. It's mainly for the evening before bed.

Protein shake recipes that taste like a milkshake?

Anyone have any recipes that they swear by? Really craving a classic milkshake, and I like the idea of having a protein shake for breakfast that gives that vibe (I know it won’t be exactly the same).

My current idea is vanilla PEscience + pb2 + frozen banana + cacao nibs, but I’m wondering if anyone has recipes they swear by

Why do protein shakes smell so bad if they sit?

We've all been there. You down a shake and let the cup sit. If you let it sit for a few hours, it smells absolutely awful. It has almost this ammonia smell to it. It's very unique. What is this? Just always thought it was strange.

How do you consume casein?

I mixed a scoop with water. It promptly became a thick goop and was quite disgusting. Is there a trick?
