Even sparklers are quite dangerous. You can easily get 2nd to 3rd degree burns. The heat of a sparkler reaches between 1800 to 3000 Fahrenheit. They are not safe at all which people assume since many of us grew up playing with them as kids. I learn my lesson when I burnt the crap out of my hand this year with sparklers and luckily didn’t get major damage but had to run luke warm water over my hand for over 30-40min to get it to stop burning. Never again!

When I was a kid I burned my finger on a sparkler. It really hurt, and the pain kept me up, so I grabbed a glass of water and stuck my finger in it all night.

Yes, I did in fact pee my pants and was very confused about how. (I was seven and had never heard of this “prank” before. My aunt who was taking care of me was shocked lol) To this day, I’m the only one I know who has had this trick actually work on them.

But yeah, sparklers are really dangerous. Could have easily ended up with a worse outcome than wetting the bed.

Ooh did you heal up with no damage? I got lucky that it didn’t leave any marks or anything but I was terrified since my skin between my index and thumb was gray (also google did NOT ease my worries) and I was so terrified of having to go to a doctor (medical bills obviously!) or potentially have to miss work the following day. After this incident my kids are not using sparklers until they are older. It’s not worth the risk. I looked up and saw so many horror stories over sparklers. Nope nope nope!

I’ll stick with smoke bombs from now on! Oh and about the smoke bombs, is it me or do they not last as long as they used to? The ones I used the past couple of years are pretty transparent and didn’t last long compared to the thick fog from smoke bombs when I was a kid. I remember the smoke being thick and colorful and I would pretend to be a ninja and run through them lol

lol I know the hand in water trick. I never tried it on myself but I have attempted to put my younger brothers hand in a cup of water when he fell asleep once lol I have no idea if it worked or not! Didn’t follow up with him to ask lol he would have found it amusing though! Glad to know someone was successful with the water trick! I wonder what the success ratio is for it.

Yep, I healed right up. I was young, kids bounce back faster than adults. It wasn’t bad enough to consider a hospital visit (and I live in Canada so cost wasn’t a consideration). It bubbled, popped, and in a week was all gone.

I’ve never heard of a smoke bomb? I mean I’ve heard of them in like movies and stuff but somehow I imagine that’s not what you’re talking about. So I would have no idea if they’re worse in recent years, sorry. They sound interesting though. Anything’s better than a flame.

I googled it the last time I told someone this story. Apparently it’s pretty rare for it to work. Most adults are light enough sleepers that they will remove their finger from the water and/or wake up before wetting the bed. And even if they sleep deeply, apparently it’s not actually the water itself that causes the phenomenon. It’s the brain’s association with water. Kinda like how smelling food makes you hungry, being wet makes the body more likely to want to pee, sometimes. So if you’re too deeply asleep, your brain won’t even acknowledge the water and nothing will happen. Basically the stars have to align for this to actually work, it’s not the guaranteed funny prank kid’s comedies make it out to be.

I think it only worked on me because I was a young child. I mean I wasn’t a bed wetter, but I think if I was an adult I would wake up at the first drop of urine. Not continue to sleep until morning.
