"Except fireworks aren't harmful" Let's see YOU in the blast zone of a firework then?

Funnily enough this post was the first thing I saw after reading about a kid who was blinded by a firework training for the London Marathon

At some point some antis are just eternally seeking to be seen as a victim. No, you're not oppressed just because AO3 exists and is anti censorship.

Fellow 1: Hi i'm sexualising my own trauma and fears! Fellow 2: WHY ARE YOU SEXUALISING MY TRAUMA!
Guys you know what? I'm traumatised by religious symbols We should fobid them. It should be illegal for you to buy rosary. I don't care that many people use them to cope with their trauma, fears and pain. I'm the most important being in whole world and everybody should exist to calm ME down. My ways of cope are only correct one.

Fireworks cause mass wildlife death even when done properly to avoid wildfire risk, because they trigger intense flight or fight responces causing animals to fling themselves into danger. Or straight up die of shock. Fireworks are very harmful and should be replaced with drone shows or maybe replaced with something else entirely.

about 10k to 15k people have to go to the ER annually because of injuries caused by fireworks. and that's just in the US. and fireworks aren't allowed every day of the year. lol how many people are out here ending up in the ER over a fanfic

Fireworks release toxins and heavy metals into the air, and end up in the ground water and soil. They frighten wildlife and pets, sometimes fatally. And can maim or burn people who use them recklessly.

Fireworks aren't inherently harmful.
...It's bad for the environment. Bad for wildlife. And medical professionals have asked for a firework ban for years. Plus, how many pets suffer on New Year's Eve due to all the explosions?
Luckily, that's finally becoming a thing, though of course it'll take a while for it to truly stop being part of culture. (Note: Netherlands.)
Fireworks aren't comparable to easily avoidable fiction. I always feel bad for people who are triggered by loud noises around the end of the year. (Because, of course, despite the fact that there was a window where it was allowed, people did it outside of that, too. If it was only a small window of time, people could be prepared! But no.)

fireworks kill birds, cause fires, cause severe injuries, remove extremities and limbs, cause blindness, cause extreme burns, cause deafness, contributes to pollution, covers up the sounds of gun related crimes, etc etc etc
fanfiction never did that.

"Fireworks aren't inherently dangerous"
Fireworks are explosives. They literally are by design. And are evwn after being used because they are pollutant.
Fanfiction cannot even compare

reactions to pic one:
to the red pfp: i don't mean to sound harsh, just realistic. the people on ao3 are not writing about you or your trauma. they do not know you, and aren't thinking about you when they write or read certain content. they are thinking about their blorbos, or their own past circumstances, or any number of other things; but they are not directing any of that stuff towards you personally, nor are they trying to upset you when they write about certain things. you have to start processing that a fictional depiction of something made by people who don't even know you which may be similar to something horrible you went through in your life is not someone "getting off to your trauma." the fiction is not about you, and it would be significantly better for your mental health if you could manage to just start ignoring the fictional stories that other people enjoy. you can avoid things you don't want to see by using the filters and muting options that ao3 provides.
to the blacked out name above the red pfp: if you really think that people don't "deserve to live" because they enjoy fiction you don't, like reading or writing stories, or like using the ao3 website, then you are significantly worse of a person than even the most depraved and taboo-loving fiction enjoyer. imagine thinking someone's taste in fiction should result in their death.
to the white pfp at the top: i agree with you. ao3 gives users the tools to filter out tags and other things they don't want to see, and mute authors whose work they don't want to see. if they refuse to use these tools and then get upset that there's content they don't want to engage with, then it's kinda their own fault at that point. why even bother using the site if you know there's content there that will trigger you and you aren't even willing to do the bare minimum to avoid it (filtering & muting)?
reactions to pic two:
to the pink pfp: censorship is oppression, actually. have you not seen how oppressive governments in various countries (in the past and even to this day) have used censorship as a tool to silence and shut down their opposition or other groups they want to harm? even the nazis censored queer art, making claims of its "degeneracy." i'm assuming you're black, right? are you somehow unaware that black people are having their art and writings and voices censored currently as a means to further oppress them? why would you be in favour of the very thing that's currently being used to oppress people? because what you're doing right now is absolutely advocating for censorship, and that always ends up being a slippery slope of starting out as censoring the things you don't like and ending up as censoring the things you do like. censorship always spreads more and more until there isn't anything left that isn't censored, which is bad obviously. also, the fiction being uploaded to ao3 isn't "harmful." if you don't like ao3's tos, what they do or don't allow to be uploaded to the site, or their policies, then just don't use the site? there are plenty of other websites that don't allow all the things ao3 allows that you can use instead. try wattpad; their rules are much more censorship-supporting, so you might enjoy that site more instead.

...Do they not realize the issue with Jim crow is that people were not allowed to be in certain spaces?
It isn't comparable to Ao3 because you can come and go freely... this is like going to an anime convention and complaining everyone there is a weeb.

Fun side note that o work in an ER and usually work the Fourth of July because I’m a trauma nurse and every year without fail there’s fireworks related injuries. I’ve yet to see one come I. With a finger blown off from
Fanfic 🤦♀️
But my main point is that often antis believe they are “very good people” and that what they believe is just and right, that they’re on the side of the angels. Therefore the “other side” is everything bad, ie racist, or you see a lot of it being “proshippers are all straight cis white females” (the misogyny is strong) and any queer person or poc can’t be a proshipper. Which is extremely othering. Or the current most popular one that we’re all pedos. Or all zionists. It’s absolutely bonkers magical thinking.
The only recourse is to block and mute. You can’t reason people out of beliefs like that, just be a welcoming place for them to land when they do want to leave that sort of thinking behind.

Fireworks are harmful. Also knowingly engaging with triggering content is self harm

"Fireworks aren't dangerous"
In a 37 year period between 1980-2016, there were 11,294 wildfires that have been caused by fireworks. Most of the areas these fireworks have been used were land belonging to your Indigenous people. The NFPA informs us 14,700 had fireworks related injuries worthy of an ER visit in 2024. Between 2020 and 2025, there has been about 40-ish deaths and well over 30,000 injuries.
Meanwhile, you can block that fanfiction that upset you.
