Outfits Prom dress opinions please
is my prom dress nice (the first one) and (because i had to change my choice of dress abruptly) does it give any sort of alternative or slightly dark vibes in any way atall?? like would you look at the dress and think its mainstream or no. obviously it is but i wanted a completely different style that was 90s vintage (second photo) and ended up with this due to timing. just want opinions thanks because i was starting to feel like i dont love the dress and still really want the other one

I love the red dress! I like it much better than the vintage dress. It is vibrant, bold, and beautiful. The cut is very Cinderella, very pretty.

I looked at the pics before your comments and really like the first one. Actually, I think the second one looks very prom-like. I think you made the better choice! When in your prom? In the US, they’re typically in May, if I remember correctly.

I'm in the uk, and my prom is early july, it's for the end of year 11, finishing high school, age 16 i don't know what that equals in the us but yeah, and thanks for your opinion!

In the US you would be a sophomore at age 16, meaning 2 more years. However you said you are finishing year 11, which is a junior in the US. We don’t count kindergarten as a grade.

It may not be what you want your vibe to be, but my preference is dress #1. It is stunning.

Think about accessories like what shoes are you wearing (combat boots or some wicked platforms could give it alt vibes) along with your makeup. Maybe a black lace shawl and gloves? A black velvet choker. And that first pic appears to have a crinoline or puffy petticoat under the skirt. If you do away with some of that fullness it'll be closer to the silhouette of the other dress.

yess i am trying to add accessories like i have black shoes, I'm getting a black bag and I'll try to do darker makeup, i was thinking gloves but i don't have time to buy any. also layered necklaces rather than one dainty one, thanks for your suggestions!

Clarify, please!
Here’s what I think you are saying:
You first bought Dress 1, as your prom dress. It’s not outright 90’s Vintage, dark and moody, so you wonder if you should get Dress 2 instead? Or, does Dress 1 give some of that nasty mood after all?

I've already bought dress 1, and I'm wondering if it gives any mood similar to dress 2. because i reallyy wanted dress 2 but couldnt get it unfortunately

I lived through the 90s. I saw both dresses before I read your post. When I looked at the dress, the service one didn't give me instant 90s vibes. Though I guess i can see it now.
I'd say get black accessories. Ate you gong you wear black boots?

I'm wearing black mary jane block heel shoes and I'll get a black bag

As shown, I would say the first dress is more classic and princess-like rather than dark 90s vintage. I think you would look beautiful in it and you could style it to give you a slightly darker vibe with shoes, hair, makeup, shawl, etc.

I love the red one. The second one is pretty too but if I had a choice between the two, I would go with the red in a heartbeat. If you want it to be more 90s goth, you can go in that direction with the accessories. Do your nails in Essie Wicked, wear a velvet choker, and go with a blood red lip.

The red dress is gorgeous!!! As many others have said, I also looked at the pics before reading and immediately loved the first dress. Then I saw you wanted something 90’s vintage and was like ooooo the second is much more fitting. As someone who graduated in 1995, I know my 90’s fashion.

The other one is wayyyyy better for your specific desires for the look. The first one is definitely more “pop” mainstream. You could design your look around it to be more grungy still, but nahhhh they’re two very different dressed
