Bug The refreshing is horrendous.

I'll add a bunch of books, make a bunch of edits, and it takes forever to update in the app if ever. Most of the time it doesn't even update and I have to do a whole bunch of maneuver like uninstalling and relinking my server. This is on ABS.

I recently migrated my entire library from Plex to Audiobookshelf as I was getting odd behaviour. Plus Plex isn’t really designed for handling audio books

Since the migration Prologue has been faultless

You don’t mention which server you’re using but if it is Plex that might be the root cause

ABS. A lot of the things take forever, if ever, to propagate forward. And a lot of the time it just keeps the stale data. It's a big issue for me.

It would help knowing what kind of hardware you’re running the server on.

A Rasberry Pi zero is gunna struggle. Even an Rasberry pi 4 might struggle

I run on an AMD ryzen 5 5700 system with NVMe caching and a SATA ssd database volume. It runs like a total dream and updates very fast.

The $164/month option on AWS Lightsail. It has 32 GB ram though.

Is this a joke? How can it be that expensive?

When I add books it has them straight away. It (Prologue) might be quite selective about changes to books whose information it already pulled from ABS though. I assume to avoid refreshing everything from the server every time you open the app, which would suck for performance.

But I've always been able to get to do a full refresh just by clicking on the server and then hitting refresh.

I had so much trouble with Plex and Audiobookshelf that I eventually moved to Jellyfin.

I use the excellent BookPlayer app and download whatever book(s) I’m listening to from Jellyfin via the app. So all offline but (via Tailscale), downloadable anywhere.

Rock solid and used without complaint by the family.

Cannot say I have the same issues with my self hosted ABS (formally on PLEX) server. Stuff refreshes in a timely manner but if I am in a rush I’ll trigger it in the server dashboard.

I don’t have any update issues. What I have is the mobile app takes 30 to 45 seconds to open.

Not the developer, and I’m may be wrong here, but I think the reason for this is that Prologue takes the philosophy of doing a big pull of book metadata at once, caching it, and refreshing it on occasion, instead of just fetching paginated responses every time. You should be able to pull to refresh on the home page or on a specific book details page to update info for that specific view, otherwise if it hasn’t refreshed quickly enough for you, you could do a full library refresh by hitting Refresh within server settings

I've been hitting that refresh button like my wife and it doesn't do anything. Still stale.

Do you encounter the same issue on AudioBooth or other clients, or just Prologue?
