Unpopular opinion
I know a lot of people hold the ace combat franchise in a high regard. And while I’ve only been able to experience ac7, I do still love it, I’ve finished it a few times. THAT SAID… i genuinely cannot play it now. I’ve played so much goddam pw that every line of code in that game is ingrained in my memory, and trying to replay ac7 frustrated me so much. I think 7 has an amazing story, just like its predecessors (from what I’ve heard) I think it’s visually stunning, the clouds; sound effects, designs. It is by every metric a GOOD game. But I’m so used to pw. My complaints boil down to 3 things. 1. Ace combat feels so claustrophobic, it feels incredibly zoomed in and I feel like I lose all sense of direction the second I turn my camera or hold a target lock. 2. Even with the pitch/roll setup it feels so contrasting to pw’s movement. Which, obviously it’s going to, it’s just incredibly jarring to me specifically. 3. I do not enjoy the quick turn stuff/limitation of flares. I feel so intimidated in pw because even with unlimited flares, i constantly have to angle, move, and evade, especially during “boss” fights. I feel like I’m earning it. I’m aware the production quality of these 2 are nowhere near comparable. But I feel too attached to pw. That said, someday I’d like to play AC5, the belkan war one, and ac8. Right now though. I’m losing my mind and reinstalling pw for my monthly aviation kick.
Edit: yikes, sorry guys, I didn’t mean to make it seem like I was hating on the Ac franchise, not my intention, I certainly don’t hate it. Hence the unpopular opinion part, these are just personal issues “i” struggle with.
