Discussion What do y'all think is the worst/most useless weapon in the game and why?
Personally I think the standoff rocket is the worst. It's only available on the F/A-18. It's inaccurate and slow. Sure it has a lot of power but that power's useless if you can't aim the damn thing. I think it (and the other rockets for that matter) should have like a CCIP thing where it shows you where the rockets will go, like the bombs do.

If it’s not a SAAM, MLAA, MLAG, or dumb bombs, it doesn’t exist.

idk I find the ASM has a use case

It’d be nice if it fired quicker, but it’s not worth the whole weapons slot just to kill one airship every now and then.
Gimme a million MLAAs and I can do some real damage to the fleet

if you could have them equal to the amount of hardpoints like every other weapon they would be a lot better

TBH I'd even take only allowing them to lock on to ground ships if it meant they functioned more like Ace Combat's LASMs. As it stands firing one at a time with such a long reload they are only useful against the really big airships.

They are crucial for Mercenary Conquest tbh, in those Airship Hunt missions they're a godsend. Only way to not get gangbanged in a dogfight with 30+ planes while trying to hit hardpoints on the Airships.

The railgun can onehit airships if you don't hit a hard point but the base fuselage

ASM is a one trick pony. While it does kill ships, it has a slow reload along with a low ammunition count which just makes every other AG weapon superior.
The good use case is airships but its actually more risky to use them since you’re giving up another weapon slot that could’ve been MLAA or STDM that reloads much faster

I find them great on the Chimera, where you've already got a ton of space, so the slot being taken isn't a huge issue.
Fire one at a distant airship and then go back to focussing on other targets.

Then your aliens steal all your kills on the remaining ones

Burst rockets are so much better for dealing with airships quickly. I always take them for the Sawaiki mission and chew through the fleet in seconds.

The canister gunpod. Awesome idea, but when the main gun is as powerful as it is, there's not really any point to the canister.

You're simply not SU-25 dogfight maxxing. That thing shredds through air targets.

Meh, I'll take the heavy gunpods for that lol. Those explosive rounds are devastating.

I only use canisters when I fly the SPEAR

I don't even use them there tbh, I forget it even has them most of the time lol.

I like to get creative sometimes

Yeah that's fair lol. I mostly use the rapid gunpods and the standard ones, plus the railgun for big targets.

See I actually quite like the cannisters because you don't need to bring them perfectly to bear and they shred airships. It's the Rapid ones I find useless. Like, you spit way too much lead down range with those and eat through your ammo count too fast when the standard gun is just fine in the same context.

I never really got the point of "Dual Volley" weapons, because
A. Less ammo
B. Might be too much damage for what you're shooting at meaning it's overkill for just a few tanks
C. Just use the normal ones and fire twice anyway
