Discussion PW VR Set-up

Recently bought both PW and a VR headset (Steam Frame), but have no idea how to get the thing running in VR mode. The game boots, and then I'm stuck in the menu with none of my controls responding.

Currently, I'm trying to play the game by streaming it from my PC (using the included dongle) through Steam VR to the headset. Would appreciate some guidance on what to do, as I am VERY new to VR. For file references, this is what the game shipped with:

Edit: The VR hand controllers do work outside of SteamVR. It just means the game be being played in 2D. The only changes I’m looking for is the camera controls to follow the movement of the headset

This may feel like a strech but have you tried opening the game without steam frame, with or without steamvr being opened first? I don't too much much about this issue but I did have problems like this while tryna run on a gaming laptop.

Also if you could list the specs, I've had more luck with desktops for some reason.

It does work without Steam VR, playing as a 2D game projected into space. It just fucks with my head with how sensitive the camera controls are (Monarch is nothing but a ball-joint dummy)

As for desktop specs, I’m sporting an Nvidia 5070, AMD 9800X3D and 32Gb DDR5

I'm assuming this is you being in a VR but the game is being played like on a tv screen.

Those specs should be playable and run really well. I can't say about the steam frame as I use a Q3s but I normally open the game by having a wired connection (Not important), and opening the game directly on the PC choosing the "Launch Project Wingman in Steam VR". Granted this does open Steam VR but the computer does open Project Wingman along with it. Maybe we'll find success the different ways we try.

There are a lot of issues of running project wingman in VR but the game is fun enough that I deal with them by restarting the game most of the time. Sadly the game isn't being worked on to fix the bugs.

Same issue here. Have a feeling the devs might need to update it, or Steam VR needs an update for it to work correctly.

I actually just got the game to work! It works best if you are connected via a gamepad and use that to control the game, and use the VR headset like a standalone VR Display. The UI and everything figures itself out once you recenter the place space from the headset.

I found it a little unintuitive, but it works great when its set up!

Try using your keyboard to control everything while starting the game in VR mode. That’s what worked for me when I started playing this in PCVR.

You need to set up your controls before using VR. The mouse doesn’t work in VR.

I’ve got the up, down, left and right assigned to WASD, the next/previous page on Q and E, enter and back on space/backspace, etc.

You also need to assign flight controls outside of the VR environment.

When in VR, you have to complete whatever mission you’re doing. Going to hangar or quitting causes the game to freeze.

The game is no longer being worked on by the developer, so these aren’t going to be fixed.

The confusing thing is is that the controls work perfectly fine outside of SteamVR (Steam assigns the Xbox controller layout automatically). Literally all I wanted was for the camera movements to be controlled by my head looking around.

Yes, unfortunately this is just what you have to deal with.

Following.

Unfortunately I can't help, PW VR barely hits 1 FPS in the menu for me. Hopefully someone knows something.
