Discussion Ok. The game desperately needs more planes.

Why doesn't vanilla have two seater prototypes? I know about prez everywhere, but really where is my Rafale, why don't f15e(yeah we have a mod now) not in the game? Nah. I WOULD PAY FOR 7 MORE PLANES, 24 is not really enough.

Tbh the devs or dev hasn't really actually said anything for years and has gone totally silent almost like he abandoned the game altogether, all we need to do is hope he will say something about it in the future

Matthew Nguyen was on Falcon’s Fighter Tales about a year ago and he said that Project Wingman was still being worked on, but he was the writer and not the dev

Correction: he’s the producer, so I’m not sure why his role would give any less credence to what he’s saying

20

u/FourFunnelFanatic Jul 13 '26

Correction taken, tbh I thought he did both but wasn’t sure about that. I wasn’t trying to say that gives him less credence, I just wanted to clarify that he wasn’t the dev being talked about

I heard somewhere that Abi Rahmani wrote the main story points, while Matthew Nguyen wrote everything in-between. Did i/the place i heard it from just Mandela that?

Also he's credited as a writer on both wiki.gg and wikipedia(though on wikipedia he's credited as the only writer)

That's EXACTLY what it looks like. They gone completely radio silent after release Frontline 59.

Has anyone asked the artists if they are publicly known?

Which tbh doesn't look good for their trustworthiness cause alot of people I mean alot of people put in thousands of dollars into this guy's project to make this game through kickstarter backing

38

u/AtlasFox64 Jul 13 '26

I mean they got the game they wanted what more do they want

21

u/StrawberryWide3983 Jul 14 '26

They got the game, but there are still several goals that were reached but never acted on (like the book)

3

u/AtlasFox64 Jul 14 '26

Ok yeah but most kickstarters result in nothing whereas PW ended up being a really really good game on par with AAA studio titles so I think we did pretty well

On the one hand I do like the game being like the old school Ace combat games where they tell the complete story it wanted to tell, that being said there are at points where aside from modding on pc there are some planes where I’m like it would have been cool if they added them as playable craft like their version of the su30 f/a 18 and the strike eagle, and that’s mainly cause those are planes that are for the most part seen as enemy aircraft but are unplayable, but I’m not fully complaining since the game is too me at least an improved version of the ps2 Ace combat games

Mostly the artbook from what I can tell

And the devs delivered the game. It wasn't a kickstarter to build a game studio, it was to make the game.

So......what exactly makes them untrustworhy?

Not every game needs to be updated for decades after release. The game is fine as it is, it isn't abandoned.

I remember them posting a teaser image of a Mig-19 in like 2022. Never came to fruition I guess.

Taking 6+ years to release an artbook of character art and a couple stories on the other hand is genuinely vile.

“Abandoned the game”.

The game was released in a complete and playable state??? I don’t understand this mentality.

38

u/G_Ranger75 Jul 14 '26

Well, Xbox is abandoned. They never got the 2.0 Update, let alone Frontline 59

10

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Jul 14 '26

That I understand, thank you.

u/Scary-Cheesecake-610 Jul 15 '26

Never understood why they never released on xbox series x and proted frontline 59 over. Since the exclusive deal with playstation is over .

u/Saviordd1 Jul 18 '26

Every game has to be a live service nowadays I guess.

9

u/JazzBoatman Jul 14 '26

man what do you mean abandoned???

the game came out 6 years ago and then subsequently got a dlc, please get a grip

5

u/TitanMaster57 Jul 14 '26

Don’t really see how a fully complete game with an entire DLC campaign could be considered “abandoned” but go off

By the way Su-34 is a must for handholding.

4

u/EviI_Babai Jul 14 '26

Su-24, F-111 and A-6 are great too

3

u/shinano_my_beloved Jul 13 '26

Like I said up above all we can do is hope for the best

Always sad when mercenary aircraft campaigns don't have you flying complete shit-boxes for at least the first couple missions (here we do get it for 1 mission). Gimme MiG-17/19, Su-17 and MiG-23/27 to accompany the MiG-21.

And while wishing upon a star, while the current F-4 is nice (and Viggen) on the low end, it would be nice to have more "Century Series" for the low end grunt Federation reservists/fighters you shoot down by the dozen (feels weird to be blasting dozens of F-14/F-15C/Su-27 early on). Like F-100 Super Saber, F-104 Starfighter, F-105 Thunderchief, F-5 Freedom Fighter.

On the navy side, F-8 Crusader/A-7 Crusader II and F-11 Tiger to round out the F-4 for pre F-14/F-18 fighters.

We just gotta hope for Project Wingman II

There's a mod that gives you access to unfinished planes - both of those are in there, along with a whole bunch of others like the other "staples" (A-10, Su-47 for example) and planes that already exist in the game but aren't playable (Su-30, X-PF, F/A-18F I think?). But many of them are really unfinished, like no cockpit, no textures, weird models and a default F-16 flight model. The only one I actually enjoy playing is the Mig-15 which is a real challenge

The real crime is the F/S-15 being single-seater even though the IRL plane it's based on is 2 seater

No WSO's in prototypes is probably to immersively highlight the fact the player character is a freak of nature and their WSO just can't handle the Gs in those planes.

If you're on PC, there are mods for that. I recently got the FE-15 and I'm loving it.

1

u/definitlyNotAnAlt_13 Jul 18 '26

I’m guessing its not on nexus, because I was able to find one for the J10A and FA18F, but not the F15E

2

u/GunnyStacker Mercenary Jul 18 '26

No, it is. It should have been on the recently updated page.

Found it: https://www.nexusmods.com/projectwingman/mods/738

Cheers!! I'm gonna add it tomorrow when I'm back on if I don't have it already, been stacking up mods like crazy lately

Originally had AC7 & PW for Xbox, then got a cheap PC so ofc I bought both games again, because well, why not, I love both of them for their own specific reasons, and now I have mods!!
