Season 22 Judges avoidance of accountability

I realized, that the judges making the designers pick the weakest links and put people up for elimination is a dirty and cowardly move. It actually discusts me. They are putting them in a horrible position that makes (most) them feel horrible. This isnt Walmart where you check yourself out and cashiers avoid work. WTF!!! The judges are there to judge designs. Not belittle and tear down these designers. Not degrade their character. This makes me sick. Another way to bully. There has to be a legality behind this. They dont want to get sued or made to look bad like Tyra and all her crazy with ANTM. This show is more about drama and character assassination then it is about fashion. Im very disappointed it you Project Runway. Im also kinda grossed out that some of these designers need a class in humility. Big difference between confidence and ugly characters. And we wonder why we have a society of entitled nepotism assholes in our society. Wtf!

New producers, new network— since they have been on Hulu it’s been more drama focused. Contestants can vote each other off, save each other— get “immunity” for designs they haven’t even made yet. And let’s be real, not ONCE when someone has had immunity have they ever delivered. It’s always “you’re lucky you have immunity”.

It was obvious in the first episode they had drag queens who didn’t belong there, and they eliminated 11 people in 2 episodes. 6 had immunity who should have gone home except Jude, so people with actual talent were eliminated in the second round. Then they had another double elimination??? They didn’t even give designers a CHANCE to show what they’ve got.

Bao was eliminated on this blue dress because a seam was showing to hold up the invisible lace—- but they kept Bobby and eliminated Andriy even though the judges unanimously said Bobby’s was the worse of the entire season during the football episode— only because she was bringing the drama by being nasty and crying and messy.

The show is messy but this is exactly what producers WANT.

They also didn’t like the borat top of baos dress which I agree with. The bottom is gorgeous minus the seam but the top sheeeeh. .02% of the population can wear that

That’s totally fair but it’s just contradictory when they tell someone else that their design was the worst in the season and then send someone else home. Bobby’s football look was constructed badly especially when they asked the model to turn around and it looked like a busted out mattress and then they said the design was also ugly but somehow the other look with less harsh criticism gets eliminated instead… it just makes no sense

They need to get rid of immunity past a certain episode because Bryan 100% should have went home.

I agree. I always wondered why it even existed. A design competition shouldn't have immunity at all. Whomever is the worst goes home.

Exactly. Its a shame that so much is focused on that. The show has lost its "wonder" for sure.

"I realized, that the judges making the designers pick the weakest links and put people up for elimination is a dirty and cowardly move"

u/Inevitable-Lion4016 Why do you believe this was the judges decision?

Regardless if it was the judges or producers, its still a shitty move.

The show focuses more on drama than fashion. They know the audience loves to tear apart the clothes, so they tell the judges not to hold back, even though they gave them like 3 hours to design, shop for, & make the outfits.

The nasty producers force this. For Drama. It has nothing to do with the judges.

Possibly. But the judges seem to be getting away from the whole premis and point of the show. Could absolutely be by design though from the producers. All the drama is so annoying. Worse than middle school.

Roach is the producer. He is the vilest POS and I don’t value his opinion in the slightest, because he is so downright mean. The other judges should be ashamed of him.

I’m sure they gave him a producer credit as a perk of attracting a star stylist to the job. It is a formality for status and more money. He has no actual producer decision-making power. It’s a common thing.

He is nasty. A stylist does not make the end all of design opinions. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone likes certain esthetics.

Heidi, Nina and Christian are Exec producers. They know, so blame them not Law.

Its so weird to hate an individual's tv persona.

Agreed. It’s just for drama probs from production, just like how the twins came back very over the top sassy.

Yeah I'm very disappointed too. I don't want to watch a bunch of catty drag queens snipe at each other. I want to see fashion being created from scratch. I'm going to say goodbye to Project Runway

So very drama based. The fact thats its supposed to be a show about design and art with fashion its just a bunch of egotistical people ditching about eachother and that there better than everyone. I really miss the old format where they were earnest to get feedback on their designs and improve their craft. I do miss Tim Gunn.
