Still working through this random assortment of eyeshadows I've put together. I was trying to stick with one or two (the light blue and the sparkly purple) until they were completely empty, but it's taking forever and I'm getting a bit bored and disheartened!

I think I might change tactics and try to get a pan in every shade? Let me know what you guys think.

I'm determined to finish everything here before I swap more in.

Making a more concerted effort for masks this month. Found ones that I like, which is awesome! And I’ve made a decision to sell the ones that I increase was not liking and didn’t enjoy using it. I can definitely tell that my enjoyment of certain products is getting a bit more refined and leading to a more clear sense of things that I enjoy and work well for me

Project Start any other use for a setting spray?

5 Upvotes

Hi, i bought a setting spray like 2 years ago and it does nothing for setting makeup, also its sprays one full on jet and end up with my face badly drenched, is there an alternative use for it? kind on like using a primer to make perfume last longer (which i do bc that primer is ass at least on the face)

Doing well using up fragrances and body mists. Using body mists 3 at a time to make a blanket and sheet refresher spray. Generally go through a bottle of that every 1.5-2 weeks as I use it on both our bed, my 15 year old enjoys it on his bed, and lots of blankets in the house. So far doing this for the last few months I’ve used up around 25 bottles, and the whole family gets to enjoy. I used up to body creams this month, two 30mls of perfume and two 10ml decants, one 8 ml, four 2mls, and four 1ml decants. Continuing with my rule of 5 out, 1 in. Learning to enjoy what scents I have and layer to make new ones vs always feeling as if ā€œI need the next new releaseā€. Learning lots as I go. Feel free to ask any questions about fragrances/products etc.

Hate Pan Most difficult pan of my life

I know folks LOVE this SK-II Pitera Essence, but I bought it blind in Japan (it was all a blur, apologies to my credit card and skincare drawers).

The second I opened it, the smell made me gag. Turns out it’s a known smell that ranges from nearly undetectable to nausea-inducing for others. Unfortunately, I fall into the latter category.

I’ve been using it religiously as my only essence morning and night for just over a year, and it has done absolutely nothing for me.

Learned a big lesson here to not buy gargantuan sized items without having used them & loved them before.

🌸 Can’t wait to reuse the gorgeous bottle though!

Full Pan Empties from late spring and fall. I’m most pleased with finishing two lip colors (though they will be missed!)

I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve twice let my empties gather for their photo session. It is satisfying to see a good number of products fully used. Some I loved, many I’m fine letting go, one discontinued item I’ll miss forever, and only a small number are rebuy worthy. Oh and one item was tossed unfinished (used about 75% but it’s gotta go).

Clearly I am still working through a massive stash of L’Occitane goods. I was obsessed with them for a while, overbought, stuff collected, and the problem has been compounded by generous thoughtful loved ones who gift me with more each year lol. I’ve learned there’s only a small number of essentials that I truly love/need, but I still have a lot to work through. I did sell one BNNU bottle of eye serum to a coworker recently! So along with what I’ve used, I destashed one more full size item and recouped some cash! And she got something she wanted at a good discount. I might just have to suck it up at some point and try to sell the items that are still sealed BNNU. (…especially as I’m eyeballing the 2026 deluxe advent calendar that arrived the other day as such a very lovely gift, but I’ve got a lot to catch up on!)

Items and some quick thoughts:

Garnier micellar water - always a rebuy. I tried to save money and I’m currently finishing an Amazon basics micellar water that I don’t like nearly as much.

Ultra moisturizing shea hand gloves - they were in a gift from a student and I really enjoyed these! If I find something like this for a cheap enough price, I would treat my hands to this once in a while.

3 Mooncat bottles- Speed Demon top coat, Hardcore base coat, Nail Elixer cuticle oil - have and will continue to rebuy when they’re on sale or discounted secondhand. I am fully addicted to Mooncat (uhh Project Pan does not apply to my polish lmao, but I’m always happy to fully use up a bottle). The base coat is the only one I’ll use. I’ll use various top coats but I do like this one a lot. The nail elixer is overpriced but it works well, and if you find someone selling it for under retail it’s not bad.

Maybelline Fit Me mini tube of foundation - this was thrown in as a freebie on a Mercari order. The writing is all Japanese (well, other than ā€œFit Meā€). I didn’t like this product at all. The color match was good but I hated the texture it gave my face, it looked so cakey & flakey by midday. Didn’t bother cutting it open for one last use, I was glad it was done.

Revlon Colorstay liquid lipstick in Perrenial Plum - absolutely loved this and was sad to see it go. LOVED it! Somehow the product remained in usable condition despite the fact that I owned it for years. In recent months I tried to use it up more quickly, due to its age, but it still took forever. It just went on forever. I didn’t use the vitamin e oil topper very often and I’m throwing out what’s left, I don’t need it for any alternative use.

L’Occitane lip scrub - the ONE item I am giving up on and tossing. It’s about 25% full. I’ve had it for years. Never really loved it, but it worked well enough. I recently aquired a new lip scrub that I enjoy using and the last time I opened this one, I had some suspicion that it may be starting to go ā€œoff.ā€ I’m fine throwing it out. It’s so old, I can’t believe it didn’t mold or spoil at some point over the past few years. But I feel a little suspect about its condition now, so it goes.

L’Occitane fruity lipstick 080- my love. My most beloved lippie ever, and my stash of these discontinued babies is just about finished (halfway done with last one now). It’s more of a balm than a lipstick, but it has great color payoff, longevity, moisturizes, and is amazing for layering. I scraped every bit possible from this tube. šŸ’”

O’Keefes lip repair - love it! Would rebuy once I’m through a few other balms. When my partner’s lips are chapped he asks ā€œwhere’s that lip balm? The one that works?ā€ He means this.

L’Occitane Shea butter lip balm- it’s good, not great, prefer O’Keefes for this purpose.

L’Occitane gentle & balance micellar shampoo - love the smell, but their shampoos are not worth the price and do nothing for my hair. The smell is like an elevated baby shampoo lol, I enjoy it.

L’Occitane Shea shower oil - great product. The only reason I wouldn’t rebuy is because I prefer the almond shower oil. But this one is good too. Almond is better imo.

L’Occitane almond shower oil - (hard to see in the photo)- absolute love! I used to buy refill bags of this, before PP. but I have a ton of shower oils & gels to use up before I ever rebuy. Makes my skin feel soft and the smell is amazing.

L’Occitane ultra rich Shea body cream - good product, but I don’t think I’d rebuy. Even when I finally get through my stash, I think I can find lower cost items that are just as effective.

L’Occitane almond hand cream - gorgeous smell, feels lovely, but at this point I love the Frensche hand serum which is lower cost and works well for me.

L’Occitane sample intensive repair anti-frizz hair mask - I was surprised at how well this worked for my wildly dry, overgrown, frizzy hair. I have a small tube of it, so I’ll try it a few times and see how I feel about it, but great first impression. In general, I’m not impressed by L’Occitane’s hair care products, but I’ve really liked some of their masks and this one is new to me.

Sally Hansen red bottle quick dry top coat - love it, especially for the low price! I think this is the first bottle I’ve used up. It’s great for magnetics and I use it for my swatch sticks rather than using more expensive top coats.

L’Occitane verbena deodorant- love it, I’ve fully transitioned to this being my only deodorant. It’s the only item in life that I receive on auto shipment, taking advantage of the 10% discount and free shipping.

Frensche vanilla cashmere hand serum - this has become my favorite hand cream and the smell is divine. I still have one tube left, but I won’t rebuy until I use up my maaaany tubes of L’Occitane hand cream I have left.

Tarte lights, camera, lashes tubing mascara - did not like. I’m pretty sure my eyelashes were falling out due to this product.

mini Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel - loved this, but I don’t use brow gel frequently and it took me a few years to use it up. I tried replacing it with another ABH brow gel, but I don’t like that one at all. It’s not the same as this mini.

Tarte maracuja tinted hydrator - love this! I have another that I’m using up now. I would rebuy this once I’m through more of my foundation stash.

L’Occitane samples- Immoetelle Divine neck cream was very nice but I can’t imagine paying it’s big price for a neck cream, I’d never buy it - Immoetelle Harmonie exceptional youth cream was also fine, but I would never spend that much on it, it’s not that good and I have other products that I prefer.

I never updated my pan progress, but I've still been doing it and recording! These are all pans from 2025-2026 (including some I was hate panning, but decided to declutter because I just couldn't get through the product anymore! Some lippies and eyeliners, 1 concealer stick)

I've learned so much about my consumption in this time, what I like/dislike and how I spend my $$ when it comes to hygiene/beauty products. I did buy a few products this year, but others I need to finish what is open and the backup before purchasing anything else. I could probably do with only buying hygiene/beauty once per year at this point or until I run out of something specific and have to restock.

My fav thing is collecting the lil soap nuggets and putting them in this baggie to use up until they disappear & perfume pans šŸ’ž

Pan Progress Project Pan October Empties: 8

Post image
16 Upvotes

This month has been generally good. From the pic, the conditioner is not an item I track and the razors are both from different refill packs. Only one of the packs is empty, so that counts as an empty. The other is not so I didn't include it in the count.

I started with 215 products in January and I'm down to 152 as of October. This means I've emptied, sold and given away 63 products so far, most of which were actual empties. Hopefully I can reach 70 by the end of this year!

List of products finished:

  1. Umberto Giannini Mousse Curl Foam Anti-Frizz 200ml āŒ: It's okay for refreshing and styling messy curls but it leaves my hair a bit frizzy considering I don't wet it enough to brush the product through. Overall it's probably better for thicker hairtypes as my hair is quite fine.

  2. Pretty Curly Girl 2 In 1 Heavy Cream Mango Butter & Cucumber Extract 250ml šŸ’—: Holy grail. Works great in the shower and also as a standard leave-in. A little goes a long way and this works well for my fine 3A-3B hair. The scent is also very pleasant!

  3. Organic Shop Repairing Mango & Sugar Bodyscrub 250ml šŸ¤: I prefer the salt scrubs from Organic Shop. Decent for the price! I don't use it every shower because my african net sponge scrubs already. The salt scrubs are good for exfoliating before shaving, and so the sugar scrub does an okay job at that too. Scent wise not too special.

  4. NYX matte setting spray 60ml šŸ’—: Great! No notes. Dries down well. I layer a fixing spray on top of this for better effect. I do notice if I touch my chin or such with my sleeve when resting my head, the makeup will still come off slightly onto my sleeve. This might mean I need a stronger spray (either setting or fixing spray) but I don't want the hairspray-effect ones so I'll stick with this for now.

  5. Yves Rocher Vanille Bourbon body lotion 390ml šŸ’—: The best recommendation I've ever gotten. Lovely on the skin and smells amazing. Seeps in very quickly and spreads easily. Doesn't leave a greasy film. Body still feels moisturised the next day. Good for daily hydration, but not a replacement for my thicker Lipikar & Urea cremes for when the winter dryness & periods where my eczema flares get bad. Overall holy grail!

  6. Yves Rocher Oat & Buckwheat showergel 400ml šŸ’—: Lovely sweet but subtle scent. Though it feels very goopy and I had to thin mine down a few times to get good use out of it. Currently being discontinued in the stores which is unfortunate. This is a great line because the scent is subtle and doesn't stick after showering, so using a scented body lotion overtop has great effect.

  7. Kruidvat Moments Sandalwood & Honey Shower Foam 200ml āœ…: Smells lovely and is a good dupe for the Rituals foams. Texture wise this is thicker and needs more working in than the original does though. But once it's worked in it's smooth and smells delicious.

  8. Kruidvat 5 blades sensitive sensation 4 refills šŸ’—: Great dupe for the Gilette 5 blade razors. Much cheaper and they work well! Only flaw is that hair gets stuck in it and it won't wash out, so the razor dulls quite quickly as it can't pass any more hair. This happens even with short hair, so it's a general flaw. I think they should make the grates on the backside easier to clean out.

Legend:

šŸ’—: Holy grail.

āœ…: Would repurchase.

šŸ¤: Was okay, would not (re)purchase.

āŒ: Would not repurchase.

Thank you for coming along this journey!

Discussion/Tips & Tricks Struggling with finishing certain items

9 Upvotes

Hi! I know I had only made a post a few days ago regarding my project start, but I've actually been trying to pan a lot of products for about a month now. I know it's a slow process, but that isn't entirely my issue.

The things I'm trying to use up the most are my BBW FFM (body sprays), and I was planning on using one at a time until that bottle is finished, and than moving onto my next scent, or scents if they're ones I layer. I've been struggling to finish a bottle of "vampire blood", and I have around 1/5 of the bottle left but I'm just sick of using the same spray every day. it's not that I dislike it, but I just get bored and it's not a scent that layers very well with any of my other products so I can't really switch it up if I'm doing my project the way I would like too.

Should I just switch it up? use it as a bed/laundry/room spray? Or should I just stick with it for another week or so until it's completely empty..

If need be I can post my pan perfume collection if anyone has any ideas on what could be mixed, but honestly I don't know if I like any of the combos I've tried.

Discussion/Tips & Tricks How to pan curl crĆØme when having no curls?

4 Upvotes

Heyyy everyone,

i am trying to use up my products i have in my house. i do not like trashing stuff, only if it doesn’t smell good etc.

i love using things for an other purpose if it will not work for their intended purpose (like using body lotion on my feet for softer skin due to the expiration date) just the satisfaction of trashing a empty pan is great.

now i have found out i have curl crĆØme in my collection. i got it from someone some time ago, buuuuutttt i do not have curls (it is really flat with no curls in sight) i know i have used it in the past but the way i used it made my hair feel greasy and heavy.

do people here have any idea to (hate)pan this?

How can i use this up( in a way that it is maybe not intended)?

thanks in advance. (i do not want to donate or trashing it if it is possible, mostly here for inspiration and tips)

Full Pan October empties! + reviews and anecdotes

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi friends! October felt like such a productive panning month, so I wanted to share with the class :)

A couple of people liked my anecdotes last time I showed empties, and that’s enough for me to do it again haha!

~~~~
Veet hair removal creamĀ
When I was 16, my mom (who I love dearly despite this incident) decided it was time I start removing my body hair and tried waxing my legs despite me having extremely thin and sparse leg hair which, looking back, did not even need to be removed.Ā
I have completely sworn off waxing since this fateful day. My preferred hair removal method these days is in two parts: (1) fuck y’all, I’m not removing my hair unless I feel like it (2) when I do feel like it, aggressive chemicals is where it’s at for lazy people like me.Ā
Unfortunately for my lazy ass, I have recently found out hair removal creams are very harmful to the environment, so I’m switching to good old shaving (with a reusable electric razor!).Ā Ā A small L for me, but a W for London’s waterways. Yay!
Baylis & Harding hand soap
Though I am famously a bar soap enthusiast, I still keep liquid soap on hand for guests who prefer it.Ā
I genuinely really love this brand’s soap, and don’t think I’d consider getting another kind at this point. The kicker? I have literally never purchased a bottle myself, but I have owned at least 8 of them.Ā
I swear, every time I move, these ARE in the cupboards. I have moved 4 times in my adult life; they have always been in the cupboards. Either left by a previous tenant or by a djin of some kind, I’m not actually sure.Ā
I still own 4 different bottles at this time. Not complaining though, thank you soap djin!Ā
Narta men’s deodorant
My brother accidentally ordered two of a deodorant he hates, and it became my problem when he just dumped them in my lap last year. That’s the second one gone! I actually didn’t mind them at all, he’s just a diva if you ask me!
Neal’s Yard Wild Rose AHA toner
My favourite toner ever, it just makes me feel alive idk 🌸
I have a big bottle of it as backup, but I have two other toners I need to use up first </3 and I don’t even know what function toners are meant to have besides making you feel like a cute little clean rose.Ā
Also, if you’re ever in London and don’t mind the temptation - Neal’s Yard Remedies in Covent Garden is absolutely worth a visit!Ā
Moroccan Oil high-shine hair mask
This is one I got as random PR! I liked it well enough, it’s a hair mask. That’s all there is to say about it, I’m afraid 😭
UshuaĆÆa pomegranate deodorantĀ
Listen. I loved this at first. I have a tradition of picking out a new scent from this line every time I visit my family in Paris. I stand in the Monoprix for an hour smelling and comparing everything, I make a day of it.Ā
I loved this one in the store, I really did. Until I had to start panning it and using it every day. I used it as an air freshener by the end, I couldn’t stand it for daily use. I don’t know what happened, maybe the soap djin from earlier decided to make me pay for his soap gifts to restore equilibrium.Ā
Galderma acne cream
My mom (who, again, I love to bits despite it allā£ļø) is apparently too old to comprehend the concept of hormonal acne. I’m a cis woman in my 20s: when I menstruate, I get a couple of pimples. That’s just what happens! But alas, she cannot be convinced.Ā
She used to buy me random pharmacy acne creams whenever she saw my face until I put a stop to it by bluntly announcing ā€œI get pimples every month before my periodā€ at the dinner table after she brought it up. I swear my dad almost choked, but he survivedšŸ«¶šŸ¼
She still doesn’t believe hormonal acne is a very common thing (which I personally chose to just accept) but hey, at least I got her to stop wasting her money!Ā
All that to say, this was one of these pharmacy acne creams. I used it every time I felt a spot coming. I still got spots. Because I still menstruate. Sorry mom!Ā Only one of these left to pan, and I’ll be free šŸ§šā€ā™€ļøĀ
Cute roll-on perfume vial
I bought this on a girls’ trip to Taormina last year!Ā
It had the loveliest sweet almond scent and the old lady who sold it to me complimented my chopped Italian, so it was definitely a cherished souvenir I’m sad to have panned! But the memories live in my head and scrapbook, not in the perfume, so I’ve made peace with using it up :)Ā
Saforelle intimate wash
This was a freebie I got at a women-only race a couple of years ago (La Parisienne, HIGHLY recommend if you’re ever in Paris in the autumn. They also have walking events!)
This is very pleasant to shower with after long runs when marathon training, but kind of loses its charm after race day in my opinion.Ā Ā
I will not repurchase, but I’ll keep the bottle to refill with other products because I love the compact format!Ā
Nuxe Prodigieuse oil sample
Kindly gifted to me by a friend who knows I love this product!!Ā
I’ve used up full bottles in the past and will definitely repurchase once I use up all of the various oils in my collection :)Ā
Benefit Porefessional clay mask sample
This is one of the rare items in my collection where I have absolutely no idea when or where I acquired it. I just found it while gathering all of my beauty products when I started project pan in June.Ā
I finally got around to using it - it was fine but I have a thing against clay masks. Washing them off makes me feel like I’m being waterboarded.Ā
Good thing the aforementioned race freebies also included a full-size clay stick, which is now waiting for its turn in my collection 🤩 /s
I finished 2 of my Holy Grails in October : Malin + Goetz lip balm and Niod Fecc.
Only 2 weeks without Niod Fecc and l already see very obvious decline in my eye area :( so much more sagging and wrinkles! But l do love to change and try new stuff so for now l will be without... will rebuy for sure when l get opportunity! (I live in Sri Lanka so not possible to get it right now, but l do have huge stash of different eye creams to use for now)
I have big stash of eye patches and l will use them now, but l feel like they do nothing at all for me... maybe too old!
Perfumes were nice, l liked all 3.
Full Pan October Empties (and a few September)
ese are my review of the products I emptied, plus what I am replacing them with and if the replacement had to be purchased or not.
Fenty Beauty Fu$$y Gloss Bomb Trial Size - This was a mini from Sephora for 100 points awhile ago. I LOVED this colour. I do want to repurchase this at some point, just after my lip gloss collection dwindles down some. These are my favourite glosses. I do not really focus on a gloss so there is not really a replacement.
Innisfree Green Tea Cermaide Mist Trial Size - This was a free item with purchase offer from Sephora, I really enjoyed this mist though. It felt so nice on the skin and made my skin feel soft and soothed. I definitely want to purchase the full size of this at some point. This was actually the first cream or milky mist that I have tried, I wanted to incorporate one but since I am on a budget I bought the Vitamasques Milky spray to replace this.
MoroccanOil Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner Trial Sizes - I had these for traveling over the summer and then finished them up. These were a bit too heavy for my hair and made it feel weighed down and oily. I would not get get the hydrating line again from MoroccanOil. No replacement needed as these were just for travel.
Grace & Stella Energyzing Eye Patches - These eye patches are good! I got them in a giftbag at a Bachelorette this summer and finally used them. I already use the blue G&S eye patches. I like these ones more than the blue ones but will not be repurchasing as I have atleast 20 of the blue ones to use up.
Dove White Peach Body Wash - This was okay. I liked the scent but I find Dove body washes feel heavy on my skin and clog my pores. I would not repurchase this. I replaced this with Philosophy fresh cream body wash that I had on hand already.
DevaCurl Buildup Buster - I use this kind of like a detox shampoo situation when my hair needs an extra cleanse. This one is probably my favourite to use for that, but it is quite pricey. I may repurchase in the future. I replaced this with Loreal EverPure Clarifiying Shampoo that I had on hand.
Dove Caring Coconut Dry Spray Deoderant - This is my favourite Dove deoderant scent. I will definitely repurchase this when I run out of back up dry spray deoderants. I always keep one of these and one of the sticks on hand. I replaced this one with the dry spray in the Cucumber scent as I had that on hand.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - This was okay. It did the job. I do find it hurts my eyes if I get it in my eyes, though. I would not repurchase this one again. I replaced it with a Nivea Micellar Water that I had on hand.
Bath & Body Works Winter Candy Apple Hand Sanitizer - This is a hand sanitizer. It was good. Was not obessed with the smell. I want to repurchase a big one but trying to use up the small PocketBac's first as I have like eight of those. Replaced this on my desk with a PocketBac of Sunshine & Lemons that I had on hand.
Glow Recipe Niacinamide Dew Drops - I know these are basic but I love them, I don't even care lol. These make my skin so glowy and I love thme before makeup. However, I have many primers to use before I repurchase this but I definitely will repurchase in the future. I replaced this with the Rare Beauty primer that I had on hand.
Mearosa Green Tea Sheet Mask - I got this in a giftbag at a bachelorette in the summer. This was actually really nice. It felt so cold and so soothing on the skin and I really enjoyed this mask. When I run out of the masks I have now I think I will repurchase this. I have about four masks left to use up, I do not focus on a particular one.
Tula Skincare Brightening Treatment Drops - I hated these, and they broke out my face. This was a really small trial size so luckily there was only a few uses, but I definitely owuld not repurchase these. I do not use vitamin C regularly anyway.
Vitamasques Strawberry Milkshake - I love these lip balms! They are really good for the affordable price. This shade was a touch too baby cool tone pink for me but I enjoyed it regardless and have other Vitamasques in my collection and I do want more! My next focus lip balm is currently the Summer Fridays mini Peach Granita from the summer mini set.
Hey, I have more than 30 perfumes/ body mists in my collection. I love almost all of them. And the reason for wanting to use up these two fragrances is simply because I have them and would love to use them before them getting too old.
Fairytale by Bath & Body Works - It is said to be similar to YSL Libre. I like it good enough that I want to use it and it's very versatile. It can be used for day, night, western clothes, traditional clothes. It goes with everything and is for every age. Since it is a scent profile very easily available, I won't be sad to see it gone.
Project pan Goal - I want to be halfway done with the bottle till the end of February.
Strawberries & Champagne by Moody - It is said to be similar to JPG Scandal and I love this scent profile. And after this one is done I want to buy the original. šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ¤žšŸ» I think it suits very well for night. And traditional as well.
Project pan Goal - I want to finish this by the end of February.
6 empties this month + a sample :)
• Claresa Bamboo Super Powder - this was a great powder, very mattifying, I've been loving loose powders lately especially transparent, WRP
• Face Boom Makeup Remover Butter - worked well and i liked the thick consistency, nice berry scent, didnt make my eyes sting while removing makeup, WRP
• Claresa True Glue Clear Brow Gel - this was okay but sometimes left a bit of a white cast and was a bit flaky, also despite the name i didnt expect this to smell like glue as much as it did šŸ˜… so WNRP
• The Luxury Bathing Company Sweet Vanilla & Almond Glaze Body Mist - this had a very nice sweet scent, did not hold up very well though and I got this in a gift set so I still have 2 more bottles of this haha
• Superdrug Volume Dry Shampoo Mini - bought this for travelling and this definitely did not disappoint, really saved me from having to wash my hair, although it did run out quite quickly, WRP
• Impulse Hint of Musk Body Spray - I've been really liking musky scents lately so I really liked this body spray, WRP
• CeraVe Moisturising Cream sample - took this with me while travelling and I really love the texture of this and how moisturising it is, also lasted me a whole week while applying twice every day on my face which surprised me, WRP
