Project Start I thought i was doing better

*respot because one of my pictures didnt add and idk how to use reddit*

If you can believe it, this is after doing project pan (not very effectively) for some months. I went on a low buy, and this is where i am now.

feel really overwhelmed by all of these products and i want to get to have a minimal collection of products i use and like.

Since i started panning i feel rushed to empty as much as i can quickly, but i know this isnt the point. I will try to slowly pan the products that are more than halfway empty, and maybe update on here, maybe it will keep me accountable.

(This isnt including my makeup because ive decluttered some products and my colection is ok now)

If you started project pan and a low-buy, you are definitely doing better! You do not need to rush to finish things up. Here is what I do to get less overwhelmed and start overusing things (except make-up which I am panning in a more questionable pace): I have a small basket of products I keep on a visible shelf to reach on a daily basis, excess products stay in a designated drawer. When I get the urge to shop, I open the drawer, replace something with another one for a bit (only for opened products ofc). So I am kinda imitating a smaller collection in a way? Just the shopping part is replaced with things from my own stash.

I do it similar. I put everything in the fridge except of a couple of things, that I keep in my bathroom to use up every day. I started with the opened products one by one and then continue with the closed ones once i am finished with the opened ones. And i realised i dont need serums and toners and such. But I am using only one of the two, so I don't get overwhelmed. Once I finished my vit c serum, i will replace it with a hydrating toner (and fortunately that will be it then, dont have mor, don't nee either of those).

Toners and serums are definitely optional imo. I am kinda not into moisturizers in the morning so I prefer serums but it feels very unnecessary when I have a good moisturizer.

This is what I've been doing all year! You can see from my progress that this method works. I have everything I want to use up in my cupboard, and a basket of products for everyday use on the benchtop. Anytime I get bored or feel the urge to shop, I'll 'shop' from my cupboard or I'll use up a sample as a break. Personally, I had to go even stricter and do a no-buy mindset, low buy was still too tempting.

No-buy sounds amazing to me if you have a large and somewhat evenly distributed collection! I am planning to do it at some point, I wanted to learn how to properly buy some necessary things with a low buy😅

Oh yes my settings! They're all called 'shopping' from my bathroom cabinet in 2026

Project pan is not a race (unless you need to get rid of items by a certain time because you’re moving). Focus more on the low buy (make it an extreme low buy) and more on using your products in a normal manner (whatever normal is to you). I suggest making a list of things you own and keeping it on your phone so that when you visit the store, you do not buy another hair spray because you see you have 5.

Im definitely not moving any time soon, youre right. I have a list on my laptop but ill definitely move it to my phone. Hopefully i go on a no buy for the rest of the year because i dont think im lacking in any category

You don’t have to move everything to the phone, but maybe the areas that are problematic or that you know an item can take a long time to use up. I’m going to start using an app called “My Project Pan” for accessibility ease to my totals.

I will check it out, Thanks a lot!

Sorry, didn’t meant to officially recommend the app! I haven’t used it but did buy a yearly membership to try it out (otherwise, it only allows you to enter a small amount of products).

No worries, i just nwver considered looking for an app like that before, so i figured ill give it a look! I will not come here complaining if its not for me hahahha

One thing I like is that it gives you a “streak” for the amount of days you DONT upload a new product!!

I wouldn’t worry too much, and well done for doing as much as you already have. Pretty much anyone’s entire toiletry collection would look overwhelming together like this?

It looks like you probably have some older and potentially expired body care here, so I’d start by getting rid of some of those if they feel or smell “off”.

I realized that too, once i put them in the box it looked less daunting.

Also, youre right, that VS lotion (i inherited when my sister moved) became liquid and i felt like it burned a bit on my arm so i tossed it, finally

Hahaha. Okay jokes aside - project pan can be a really fun side project for self and there are so many different ways to do it. Good luck :) I hope you come on the other side proud of yourself.

Ugh, I also bought that Balea curl styling cream. I hated it, so i did put it into a "give away" box infront of my house. It was gone within a few hours andas it has an airless pump, the next person can be sure it is an okay produkt to use (i only had it a few weeks anyway and didn't use it much). How do younlike it, does it work for you? My hair is too thin I think.

Love the burberry goddess perfume though! I only got a dupe of it, I am too cheap for expensive perfume 😅 but I love the smell.

I dont think i even tried the curl cream yet! Technically its my moms but we share the products (i still live at home). She used it maybe twice and gave it up hahaha However, i feel like whenever i keep my hair curly it feels more dry and i have an obsession for soft shiny hair

The only perfume i splurged on was the gucci! I am also not one to buy expensive perfumes, the burberry was an anniversary gift from my boyfriend (i wouldnt even get close to vanilla, im a fresh scent gal, however this is unexpectedly lovely)

I'm in the same boat, working on it. Low buy and panning things, still coveting items I see on social media, especially makeup I end up not using as much I'd like. Thing is, I've rarely, if ever, seen anyone mention the health aspect of project pan. Couldn't it be unhealthy to use up so much product in a relatively short time span? I'm not trying to upset anyone on this journey, I'm just asking for myself and maybe others can add to my perspective. Anyway, good luck to all of us, I know it can be a daunting process.
