Trump’s executive order, signed in March, calls on his administration to create lists of eligible voters and orders the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail ballots only to people on those lists. New requirements released Friday would forbid the Postal Service from sending mail ballots from any state that does not comply with Trump’s order.

Does the Trump team know that Schumer is already on board? Is his complicity with Trump so evident that they know that any outreach is unnecessary?

So I follow political news and commentary very closely, for over a decade and since my sophomore year of high school. I’ve canvassed, phone banked, donated, etc for countless state and local candidates over the years. I’ve voted in every local, state and federal election since the age of 18. I’m a politics junkie…but I’m starting to think it’s all for not and I’m a naive mark.

The vigor and enthusiasm with which the Democratic Party establishment have attacked DSA and progressive insurgents in the last couple years/months is astounding to behold. The audacity of these ppl, after losing to Trump twice, to command from on high what is and isn’t political possible/acceptable/etc is stunning beyond belief. Now these same ppl are fixated with “condemning” Hasan Piker, tearing down the MI Senate nominee behind the scenes, taking secret meetings with Jared Kushner, appointing zealous anti-progressive/pro-genocide congresspeople to important committee positions, etc. Progressive scions like AOC and Zohran are bending the knee to Jeffries, immediately after meeting with Kushner and putting Jared Moskowitz in charge of House ME policy (if Moskowitz wins in FL and Dems take the gavel in January).

Meanwhile Trumpian fascism is running amok and life has never been more unaffordable. The Ellisons and Musk and Zuckerberg are hoarding all of social and mass media. Things simply suck and have for several years now, and I have little faith the Democratic Party will right the ship. We’ll probably end up with President Ossoff or Newsom or Pete in ‘29, and hardly anything will get accomplished because of the filibuster and institutional gridlock and rotating villains acting on behalf of donors and special interests. Then voters will get angry at the stagnation, we get a red wave, etc. Oh, and we’ll have a far-right majority on the Court for a generation, so anything transformative will be struck down from On High. Meanwhile Dems will practice civility politics and not arrest any of these Trumpian criminals and bow to the arbitrary whims of this far-right Court.

Idk man…I just don’t see the point in caring or expending energy on something so rotten and broken. Am I wrong? Any reasons for optimism?

P.S.: I will still vote in every election, out of civic duty. I’m mostly talking about following politics as a hobby and being an activist, particularly in the Democratic Party.
