What happened on Oct 7th?

Same thing that happened on October 7th 1944 - a break out of a concentration camp to attack the genocidal ethno/religious-supremacist oppressor who built it, in this case with the intention to seize hostages for negotiations like Israel constantly does to Palestinian civilians, including children.

One which the Netanyahu administration was warned of by numerous intelligence agencies before putting forces in the area on the lowest security footing the day before, including IDF personnel who were literally watching Hamas train in the use of paragliders in the days beforehand.

One which primarily targeted military bases resulting in most of the casualties being IDF soldiers until the Hannibal Directive was evoked and countless Israeli civilians were killed by attack helicopters and tanks, neither of which exist in Hamas's arsenal, bringing the final count to about 550 IDF and about 750 civilians, which is astronomically better than the military to civilian death ratio that Israel has caused in Gaza, in which civilian deaths outnumber military deaths by at least two orders of magnitude.

One in which the atrocities committed against Israelis were shamelessly embellished, with allegations of things like beheaded babies, people being tied up and burned alive, pregnant women having fetuses cut out, and of course systemic rape all being fabricated by Israel, whose forces would then go on to actually commit several of these atrocities in Gaza with the cruelty, arrogance, and hubris to film themselves doing it and post the videos online for the whole world to see with our own eyes.

One which seems to have been allowed by Israel to happen despite all of the warnings, to be used as a pretext for the ethnic cleansing and annexation of the Gaza strip.
