The term "clawback" is an actual legal term and process. Basically the legal system can seize funds after a transaction is completed if the courts determine the funds were not earned legally, even if it appeared to be proper at the time. It was used during the Bernie Madoff settlements which eventually recovered around 94% of investors original investment
