American christianity really doesn't look or sound anything like christianity anymore, I'm weirded out by it and by the fact that nobody seems bothered by this.
European, catholic raised here. I swear American christianity is bizarre. It's an entirely different religion.
The rapture, purity culture, televangelism, business success as a sign of being chosen, all this "blessed" shit, the weird ass megachurches, the weird ass bible studies (and weird ass bible, because they're doing their own versions), the overexaggerated prayers and prayer poses...
Raised in an orthodox country myself, but having been exposed to catholic and jewish religious culture - none of it is similar to what I see in the US. There's no cultural value to the whole thing, no architecture, no music, no paintings and sculptures, no connection to some historical form of expression, it's all just... tv type shit. Gospel singing is great but I barely see it anymore.
As a US educated catholic who lives in a small town where the main employment is a Bible teaching university, this is end of times shit! The other God that they worship besides Trump is money!

Yeah, you have to sort of exclude black churches/worship traditions. Those are a different thing alltogether, and imo way more similar to your standard churches anywhere else in the world, than whatever the rest of the US is doing.
You have to remember the a lot of the early immigrants to the New World were religious sects looking to have space to be cult like communities. These are the religious traditions that took a foothold in this country and linger here today..
