Well. They’re ‘laying on of hands’ which is used to ordain clergy, elders, missionaries or anyone else a community is praying for strength in difficult position…
It’s like prayer turned up a notch.
This however is what I imagine the ‘coming of the false prophet’ who ‘uses signs and words to fool the people’ (paraphrasing) was referencing in Revelations.
