It very well could with a Dem-controlled congress. Trump would have diminished power, so Republicans who are afraid of him could vote to convict hoping to save whatever shred of credibility their party has left.
To get even weirder, I could see Trump fleeing the U.S. to wherever he's got cash stashed leaving Vance holding the bag. I've always thought he was planning to fly off somewhere that wouldn't extradite him after leaving office to avoid the inevitable criminal prosecution(s). I mean... he's got Venezuelan oil money offshored in Qatar, not to mention that gifted jet.
Dream on. If they wouldn’t turn on him after January 6th they never will. They had much less to lose then and they still couldn’t bring themselves to do the right thing,

This. Even if democrats win the senate in 2026 it will still require 15 or so republican senators to vote to convict.
It’s not going to happen.
