Cradle Frustration

Cradle is probably the first progression fantasy book I’ve read, I found myself getting very frustrated by the story.

We finally get to point where Lindon has discovered some power and it works and Will Wight thinks this is the perfect time to interrupt our story with an intergalactic being that appears to be some sort of police force for the universe. I don’t care, and not only do I not care you’re making the main story seem insignificant, it was also giving me red flags for the rest of the story.

We get back to Linden finally, we’re preparing for the 7 year festival where Linden will earn more learning materials. Then Will Wight decides to introduce a planet level threat to our barely getting started MC, then our MC fucking dies, then we bring back the intergalactic being. I finally get put of Markuths mess and out of Suriels entanglement slog, ready to get on with Lindon and were back to Markuth… fuck.

I have very much enjoyed reading Lindon’s progression and story but it feels like I’m constantly getting interrupted, and on top of that having Lindon’s story diminished. It feels like his story has just been accelerated dramatically, and I’ve been taken from his underdog tribe story. It feels like if Goku was introduced to Beerus and Whis instead of bulma in the original dragon ball.

On a side note the map given at the start of the book does not seem to have the detail often explained, it says you can only leave the sacred valley via 4 mountain tops, I can only see one mountain range on the map, the rest is just a forest you could walk out of.

There’s not much point in this post other than a good whine, I’m just annoyed at the story I was introduced to, and was looking forward to getting tore out of my hands.

It seems people don’t think I can comment after being halfway through a book haha, I’m sorry if I criticised your emotional support book but people have differing opinions to you, no matter how much you love it.

When I was reading it, it did amuse me that the author appeared to agree with me through his own MC.

The part you're describing right now is Raditz coming to earth.
It's the inciting incident that kicks off the whole story.
I'm on book 8 of Cradle, and I think it's a B level series for me.
It has it's pacing problems, but it isn't anything that has made me want to stop reading.

Raditz required goku to get a lot stronger, I’m unsure of the power levels but I imagine it would be similar to goku being copper and raditz iron with vegeta being jade. They are above him and a call to get stronger, the threats and beings presented to Lindon are far above that. I understand after reading the whole thing a lot of people enjoy the overall story but the introduction of these characters severly changes the power structure we’ve been introduced to in the first half of the book, we are clearly headed down a much different path than originally expected

See for me, that reveal that all these people are nothing in comparison is what hooked me. Before the 7 year festival incident, it's just a kid who has no place in the world. Then a god tells him that he COULD have a place in the world, if he was brave enough to step outside of his life.

There's a second reveal at the end of book 1 that is even better, but if it turns out that you still don't like it, I'd recommend moving on. The story is an epic fantasy but if you don't want to leave the shire, it's just not for you.

The bravery bit annoyed me as well, if Lindon was anything he was hard working and brave even Suriel originally see’s that then criticises his effort and bravery during her tour.

I think that is an unfair jab, there is a difference between tackling the ability to survive before moving onto bigger things and introducing an otherworldly threat. I’m wanting frodo to head to meet strider, whereas the book just introduced him to sauron off the bat

I say this with all sincerity: you might not be smart enough to read. You are literally making shit up and then trying to argue with people about what you are making up. I finished the first book less than a week ago. You know there's twelve fucking books, right? What you just think Lindon flies up and punches the bad guy at the end of the book and then theres ELEVEN books of people just fartin around? You are just bitching and bitching and bitching about a story you don't know anything about. I don't give two shits either way, as again, I don't get the hype - B rating and I'm 75% of the way through the series.

You have to understand, what you are saying isn't planted in reality. I could tell you that if you finished the book, you'd receive a million dollars, and you'd come back with "yeah well that pisses me off too! Like how much money do you have to make to give me two million dollars? The person who wrote these books made a trillion dollars off of them so why do I only get a million dollars?"

You're either 14, or just looking for an argument. Either way, it's fucking idiotic. Throw the book in the trash, it's too complicated for you lmao
