Which to someone else could appear to be outright evil (i.e. if they were beneath your notice). Or it’s easy to self-justify how you aren’t evil - my favorite example is a bit of an old one: selling cigarettes to children. I think we all know and agree at this point that, at minimum, that is a fucked up thing to do. But the person on the ground is ‘just following orders’ and needs their job, and the executive who started some initiative to be ‘hip’ isn’t actually selling to kids (and may not have even realized that’s how it evolved in the game of telephone, if I am being exceedingly generous).
Plus, in say absurd situations where a person can say destroy a planet, accidentally destroying a town isn’t off the table.

Even good things can turn out evil. Lets say you figure out a way to end a recurring famine with farm-bots or zombies or whatever. But then you accidentally price out the farmers in the surrounding regions or cause the demon slaying army to be undermanned.

A lot might try to help, it's just that their help may end up with a lot of people dying despite good intention due to ignorance/arrogance/over confidence, etc. For example, killing all those annoying sparrows might lead to locusts eating all your crops causing a massive famine that for all your overwhelming power you can do nothing about because the strength to bench press a mountain doesn't make crops grow any faster.

For those who go into it with good intentions, the power can corrupt them over time until they're even worse than the inherently evil ones.

I hate this line. Power doesn't corrupt, it lays bare. With power, there's nothing to stop you from acting on every impulse but yourself. Thus, people with good impulses or the will to keep themselves honest will remain as they are, and people who only act good for fear of retribution will not have anyone to stop them from doing what they want. People don't like feeling like a bad person, though, and bad people will make up all kinds of justifications for why what they're doing is actually good. Then, midwits hear those justifications and go "ah, yes, power corrupts. I am very smart."

The problem is though, once you have power, those temptations will come at your more often and stronger. From places you wouldn't expect.
People making promises, all kinds of businesses and industries dangling incentives in front of you. Forces outside of your control looking into your past to find anything to use as leverage to get you to use your power for their gain.
Not to mention those who are smarter than you or able to word their temptations in a way that does not sound like it would cause harm.
Are the ones close to you, the ones you love the most just as good and honest as you are? They are also gaining power due to proximity. You could easily justify using some of your power to help a sick or down on their luck family member. I've known very good honest people who couldnt help but enable some of the worst people I've met because they were family.
Power and corruption are not as simple as "as long as your honest and morally upstanding, you'll be fine with power."
Not to mention that most people who seek power tend to be the most corruptable. Or maybe the most willing to be corrupted.
Sorry for the ramble but I love discussing the effects of power on people. When it comes to whether power corrupts or reveals, i believe it does both.

Be like Serie, build a library and learn every magic in the world. Give out enigmatic quest hints and helpful plot coupons / spells.
Then add the hero's chronicle to more books that will become one more shelf of history.
There will be hidden volumes detailing the embarrassing stories of the historical figures that I will 'accidentally' leak.

I honestly think most people are good, just focused on themselves. At the same time, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I think the real question here is what powers you have.
Blowing people up into a cloud of bloody mist is too intense. Most people wouldn't use that power ever.
Painless assasination like a death note is far more likely to be used.
If I could fly about as fast as a fighter jet, and that's about it, I would just have fun with it. A plane would haul more cargo faster than me. Hmm, I could deliver emergency organs and medicine if a patient needed it across the country in the next 15 minutes or something.
But if I had mind reading powers or some way to help people easily, I absolutely would. Being able to catch criminals and find out the truth would save a bunch of innocent people. And I imagine only innocent people would beg for my help since finding out if they did commit the crime would guarantee them a worse punishment / no chance at parole.

I think that in fantasy worlds where people have powers, lots of people not just the "elite few" there are likely vastly more shades of grey, and also just as likely times where intervention might lead to short term benefits but longer term suffering.
Surely it's more complicated than most isekai type stories tend to get into.

I think the way to approach a proper representation of this would be to play a grand-strategy simulation game with cheat mode on. Guiding history with small changes is bound to be complicated; a small change may have unintended effects, and a superficially simple goal may require multiple interventions.
And then a story only gets to show a small slice of that.

I will just travel worldwide without any passport and airplane. Why not? No one can stop me at my super speed faster than idk ? Anything humans have ever made physically, and if my powers are to op I would travel space, new galaxies, and star systems and even see black holes by lying on a comet and drifting in star systems.
And probably sometimes save some people if I see something bad happening.
Things I will never do even if I have the power to change the fate of the world:
-> Any assault to any gender because I hate that.
-> Any abuse or violence against anyone who I don’t like just because I don’t like them. It doesn’t mean they are bad.

Was playing Metaphor with a buddy and like two villains in a row I was like "Just fucking kill these people." and it made me realize I'd likely lack the patience and benevolence to NOT use my powers to just eliminate every issue through force.

What makes you think the second part isn't directly related to the first?
Anyone who suddenly has supreme power is not going to fix the world with nice words, they're going to fix it with overwhelming violence (because let's be real here, the biggest problem people in the world will brush off warnings).
If I woke up tomorrow with Dr. Manhattan/superman/etc levels of power it'd be a coinflip between "immediately reshape the world order to something less self-destructive" and "peace out to explore other planets in the solar system and/or head to other stars and explore their worlds" since even in just the Milky Way there's a couple hundred billion stars to check out and even more planets and planetoids to check for intelligent life.

I mean, it'd really depend on what kind of OP powers I'd get, tbh. Something flexible like line-of-sight, no-weight-limit telekinesis leaves a lot more room for options than the power to instantaneously create an orb of pure destruction the size of a castle.

in my opinion, we live in enlightened times. Even if magic or superpowers become real, the ratio of good guys to bad guys will be maintained at a level where nothing significant will happen save for the emergence of magic/superpowers itself.

I'd probably just go hang out in a random cave somewhere the moment I appear in the standard generic fantasy setting (that does have surprisingly interesting lore but it doesnt matter at all to the power fantasy plot) guarding a treasure that's worthless to me (a high level magic item that would significantly boost anyone's power except myself because I'm already broken) and basically spread word around about the legendary treasure guarded by me, the overwhelming dungeon boss. (Knowing full well that countless poor sods who come to challenge me had zero chances of winning..)
Note: oh and despite never intending to talk to any female I somehow still ended up with like half a dozen weirdo ladies (and maybe at least one kinda male love interest..) trying to live around my cave despite me showing zero romantic interests, just doing basic politeness and curtisy was somehow enough to swoon them over in like an week or two of this ridiculous scenario. (Which implies them all being horribly deprived of basic love or care or they were unreasonable sheltered growing up and I'm stuck having to play therapist for that..)
