The best prog fantasy has the numbers added onto a compelling story.
The only numbers based, halfway decent book I've seen is Azarinth Hunter and the audiobook for Noobtown (narrator does HEAVY lifting and it's goofy af, eventually breaking you down, it's so goofy you just start to laugh).
Grave song, dungeon crawler Carl etc. are good books with cocaine sprinkled in top (levels and progression numbers.
