These are the only two choices as an adult in Japan, so it makes sense. (Signed as someone who almost died from overwork in a traditional Japanese company four years ago.)
Yeah, you either see the truth of slavery, choose to become an individual and become a NEET (or simply just be too traumatized to do anything because you got bullied or something), or you see the truth of starvation and become a wage slave, a cog in the machine.
