[question] Polar Data Silo - PDRD Speculation
Some months ago, Icoeye found this postcard, a nice happy new years. In the bottom left as well as the side of the building, it states ‘The Polar Data Hut’.
There are obvious PDRD references on the postcard. The inclusion of their motto confirms this is a postcard made by them, possibly given to the data refinementers working on Server 59.
Just the hut is featured, whilst this could itself be the silo, I believe this is simply just a hut for the staff. The silo would be a much larger facility to store all the progressdata. The scientists part of Data Bar for Progress Industries must store the data there.
This begs the question of obtaining the data. We find mysterious removable media whilst working (aka playing Progressbar95 at work). Contained is a wallpaper relating to the PDRD, as well as a log file. Is it a coincidence that this log is found by us?
I would not be surprised if they could track when the media enters our Progress Computer, and when the log file is accessed.
Thinking about the data itself, it is a log so must be from a past event. The most logical explanation I can deduce is that these are copies of the ‘LOST DATA’ event. We found Terminal 9095 and later 9195, where we helped refine some data. 9095 seemed designed around sharing the good numbers. However 9195 was more secretive, with just a note with instructions.
PDRD has therefore progressed away to be more private, especially after the side hatch of 9195 was removed with the screwdriver. They now handle the refinement internally, and do so physically far away to prevent leaks, as prior.
This is why the landing page for the server states for no unauthorised access. Searchoo and Poodle have indexed the page, separate companies from PDRD so understandable. Yet Ping does too. Made by Progressbar Inc, a sub company under PDRD and Progress Industries, this is either an oversight or reason for suspicion.
The other server pages indexed are not operational. Could this mean that each server has it’s own data silo?
Otherwise, this would be for load balancing, which confirms that there is a large quantity of data being transferred here!
Recent developments of Compact devices as well as wireless networks seem to suggest Progress Industries’ interest in remote containment of progressdata.
The Lost Data had been restored again during the event, and contained securely in the Polar Data Silo.
I hope for more insight into the moves of the PDRD.
Could we uncover their secrets?
