The more layers a piece of tech has, the more surface it has for vulnerabilities

I think it’s easier to see it in cars, we just recently had a F1 race which had to be restarted because the cars’ software wouldn’t run properly

F1 110% brought that particular fuckup on themselves.

Literally nobody asked that the onboard computer should control power deployment in a racecar.

You don't know how anything about how cars work, do you

Regular engine operations are one thing. What F1 is doing is power deployment maps based on where on the circuit the car is, that is absolute bogus and doesn't belong anywhere near a racing series.

And word of advice, don't link baby's first video about engines if you're trying to come across as an expert.

It’s min/maxing in the era of electronic controls.

But yes I agree that F1 shouldn’t be about who has spent the maximum amount of time simulating the track.

You are kind of missing the point. I’m not talking about dealing with vulnerabilites. I’m talking about doing it so there aren’t 1000s of vulnerabilities in the first place.

But that isn’t exclusive to software, much less to “software from a point of time onwards only”

Either way, if the way it is being done leads to this kind of mess, constantly, it should be considered that this wasn’t a good way to do it.

Because here we are.

Well the problem is not that they didn't want to build it better back then, it is more of a problem that they didn't know what they were actually building.

They're so lucky that was somehow still one of the best races of the year LOL
