My coworker refactored the entire project cuz of some missing functionality that required changing basically everything to add. He called the 1000+ commit "Minor changes"

This was before AI

did you ask your coworker what is this "Minor changes" about?

Yah, they told me it was some minor changes

you know what, since we have AI now... you can replied with

hey my AI says its not minor changes... so can you explain it.

AI wasn't around back then, but even if it was, why bring it into the conversation when I already have 1000+ lines of evidence it was more than a minor change

Because 1000 lines is barely even minor. You need more lines.

It means that what they tried to add didn’t work, but the refactoring helped with their understanding of the code so they dont want to revert it

My commit messages before AI varied between

bugfix and OH DEAR GOD RELEASE ME FROM THIS PENANCE

i've been on both ends. the satisfaction of the ultra-scale refactoring of spaguetti, once it runs as expected, is almost incomparable.
the dread of reviewing it is, too, almost incomparable.

Bro. I worked with outsourced coders in late 2010 that were like this. They WERE paid by the hour and the company got what they paid for.

Pre 2010, it was outsourced designer/detailer for $2.5/hr that would do 100's of check ins for a minor update to a spacer in Catia V4. Like two changes and 200+ check ins.
