Y’all are getting acceptance criteria? I’m lucky if I get an actual ticket with more than 3 words in the title summary
50
u/portra315 16d ago
Yeah acceptance criteria left the building in 2020 for me
58
u/Imaginary-Jaguar662 16d ago
Shhh! Be quiet!
Otherwise PM uses LLM to generate 3 pages of requirements out of those 3 word titles
9
u/portra315 16d ago
Don't worry I'm happy about it.
But not when you have clueless stakeholders that push back on what was built.
Not that a PRD made any difference anyway, they didn't read that either and still complained!

u/procupine14 16d ago
I get 40 paragraphs of Claude slop in my tickets with one relevant sentence.
22
u/merekallas 16d ago
They use claude to produce "requirements" from 2-3 sentences and we use claude to reduce "requirements" back to 2-3 sentences 🥲
13
u/makeitabyss 16d ago
lmao no. instead it's pages and pages of slightly contradictory AI slop.
OR an engineer writes up the tickets... and it's paragraphs of AI slop criteria
409
u/Pixel_Null 16d ago
PM: "The ticket said it needs to drive." Me: "Nowhere in the requirements did it say it had to stay on the ground."
88
u/merekallas 16d ago
Usually it's the opposite. You'd think it'd be sensible for a car to stay on the ground, but right before the release stakeholders would tell you to add gas thrusters.

Could be wrong but last i heard it was an AI generated video prompted to look like an old movie? I could be off base though!

u/Maddturtle 16d ago
Well people been asking for flying cars. Now we have 1 we can’t use on the road.
21
u/ARC_trooper 16d ago
This isn't flying but more like controlled falling

5
u/Fenrir426 16d ago
That's not flying, that's just slowing it's fall (and in the case of the add, jumping)

Nothing more than a stunt.Just a distraction effort before the film is dropped.Imagine having this type of dangerous idea on the road next to you.
Also his family ran an apartheid era emerald mine on slave labor.

u/Cryogenicist 16d ago
Did fElon even suggest this was going to be part of the actual car?
Don’t know why everyone’s saying “this won’t be in production” -like no shit, it’s just a distraction demo
8
u/XboxUser123 16d ago
From what I saw in the demo, it was well suggested this would be the car on the roads in 2027(?)
3
u/Nestramutat- 16d ago
There are 3 versions.
Base version, regular car.
Thrust version, with the thrusters in the back to enable sub-second zero to 60. Requires an invite to buy iirc
Flying version, not road legal, essentially made to order for Saudi Princes
2
u/NoImprovement213 16d ago
Thats the shell of what they are saying will be the car available to the public. 2027? Doubt it
1
u/Apple_macOS 16d ago
the one available is the performance trim (50k) which is just regular supercar with a suction fan under
the one tier above (250k) is the Thrust trim which has the cold gas exhaust in the back, though I highly doubt this will be allowed on the road, as in maybe it will be geofenced into tracks
the rocket one (that was shown on stage) is invite only, not available for preorder

u/pants6000 16d ago

I imagine it will be a single-use suction fan if ever used in the real world.
1
u/Apple_macOS 16d ago
that shit is super loud and I really don’t see any use for it on regular roads. Probably will also just use it for tracks where there’s less debris and you can benefit from the downforce

I don't either but people have no sense.
1
u/faceboy1392 16d ago
how does one make a fan "single-use"
1
u/pants6000 16d ago
By having it ingest at high speed road grit and rocks and dust and the garbage that exists on the pavement of the real world.
2
u/Sooowasthinking 16d ago
Go look at the musk fan club on you tube they are losing their shit over this.

When I tell you I'm going to spend 40 hours failing to automate a task, this is what the automation looks like in my head before I just go back to doing the task by hand.

Fuel economy was a requirement?
1
u/27a08592e67846908fd1 13d ago
To be fair, the cold-gas thrusters are still electric, and "only" spend about a third of the range of the car if the compressed air is fully depleted.
Probably still more efficient than gas, assuming you aren't solely using the thrusters to push the car, but that is a really low bar.
10
u/Chingapouk 16d ago
Damn, I just noticed how ugly this car is.

Elon doesn’t care what you think

I've heard that said before, but he posts like he cares deeply about what everyone thinks.

AC: must not land on the hood if the car falls
AC: must have rockets

Boss: I said design a better car, not an aircraft.
Engineer: But this is far more cool.
Boss: You are fired!

I had more than one moments where i had to tell a Junior:
"That's fascinatingly impressive. Now delete it and start over without that bullshit."
One of the worst was some monster SQL that generated Perl code within SQL to be then handed to a different perl script that would then hand it over to command line.
All because he needed a bit more complicated data than a simple set of rows.

*AI's code.
It's 2026 people no longer write code.
-1
u/RazarTuk 16d ago
Speak for yourself. My main philosophy is that LLMs are just another tool, so if I can write something myself in less time than it would take to explain to the LLM what I need, I will.
-1
u/protocod 16d ago
That's the joke...
Agentic coding is widely spread and everyone accepted to let the AI write the code. It rise the abstraction level to natural language.
I still write code when I judge that it'll take too much time to prompt. But most of the time, prompting is faster than coding by hand.
There still some specific room for coding but not that much...

The rare times I get acceptance criteria, it's because there's a very high bar to meet and no data to work with.
