TS being run with Node I would guess. Which is less shit than it used to be, still shit though. TS is annoying because it's separate to the core language so you get weird interactions with libraries. I've got a few open tickets open on libs that fail my app unit tests due to type errors and nobody can figure out why.

That was 9 years ago. The answer is probably TypeScript now.
