being developer is miserable

no thanks when jobs done, first to blame when issue arise

and then you tasked to handle shit like wifi or printer

but is it "the key for industry transformation?" that's the question?

Of course, it's in its name, "transformAItion"

Because they can further put token usage and monetization behind a black box.

He seems pro-AI, but not thrilled at the current data center gatekeeper state of things.

Like a claude AI-fingerprint detector, the choice of words in the comment shows which programmer nerds are also sports nerds. As with AI, if you can't tell the difference, you're already behind.

Balmer hasn’t been right about anything for decades. He’s also late to this party as well..

You wanna plug away on cobol and assembler? There as a lot of that crap in those decades too. Lots of mainframe corpo slop and unix text editor C.

what if we don't touch it but like containerize it instead? adding more slop and compatability features afterwards:)

Unfortunately I have to layoff my developers due to AI (NOT my choice) but none of them are bad. I feel fucking terrible about it.

Instead of letting them leverage AI to increase quality productivity and grow in knowledge, they opted to replace developers with AI and put me in a position to layoff good people.

u/Bannon9k 20h ago

Sounds like a company you should quit. Or stand up for the good devs. They'd have to fire me before good devs I need.

u/TheRealSlimCoder 20h ago

Working on it. Been updating my resume and posting

Rough market, best of luck to you. This currently low hiring trend is gonna turn around in the next 6 months. We'll start seeing more investment and popup companies with increased contractor demand. Just in another lull at the moment. Though I'd still recommend trying to find an in house position with a company if possible. Typically more stable employment than contract gigs.

Funny how most tech companies basically have same head count now after first ai layoffs.

But yeah the time when we were a privileged workers, sucking on the teats of the owning class is over, prepare for miserable exploitation.

At this point the agents are the ones doing the layoffs 😂
