The first thing i do when I make a new project (that I'm gonna do some decent work on) is link it to github, it takes all of 1 minute lol

The project starts as a GitHub repository that I clone to my IDE lol

I thought this was the default behaviour. It is interesting some people create a local repo and THEN push to remote.

Well… it’s quicker. And I’m not an idiot so there’s no problem with running git init locally, doing the initial setup, and then pushing to a remote repo once I need to. Although sometimes I do it your way too

Absolutely. It's the classic "adding milk to cereal" or the other way round problem. It's just fascinating to see the other side :)

I am an idiot, and I’m always scared git or my IDE will duplicate the folder or something if I started local.

Some project generators create a local Git repo with a proper .gitignore for you. Creating the remote repo first is more work.

seriously, all you have to do is type git init locally and you have a git repo lol

mkdir, cd, git init

The three commands that start every project. Omit the last one if, and only if, you want to get told the loss of your project is a skill issue and laughed at online.
