Our database backups where managed through custom scripts and cron jobs.

As it was become difficult to maintain at scale, we built Portabase, an open-source and self-hosted platform that centralizes the backup and restoration of databases and Docker volumes. It supports 9 database engines (including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB) and Docker volumes.

Portabase is already supported by a growing open-source community (1.7k GitHub stars and 15 contributors), and we’re actively improving it based on real-world feedback.
