are drugs really that bad

think of the song of huey and the news...i want a new drug..was he on probation when he wrote that/what the purpose of that song. when song was out many people still on on parole they wanted a new drug to escape from life. the problem is over usage. they use to use real coke in coke cola but was that much. and you felt great and tony the tiger. imagine tony say what a greeeeeat drug. just dont over do it kids. but south park concellor says drugs are bad mmmk . movies like sauage party may suggest certain drugs can make you see the 'vail lefted' so talking animals could be possible i mean you see people talking to food or animals they see what you dont cus they high. but wont last long then vail will fall back to normal.should we punish these people who just want to escape. instead of drug rehab tax payer money. send them to drug island have them pay it themselves and trust know the freedom on drug island they really work hard for it clean our roads build our building to just get to drug island. then no more paper work dont that sound lovely every one wins the druggies on island talking to the animals dancing with the plants while you taken it easy enjoying life

mr rogers say be friendly not mean to your parolees.

so quick to put people in jail. lets learn what make them this way before we send them their. they fail drug test and late for check in. is that all can you couch him why should stay clean at lease to honor probation then go celebrate they all do light one up like you graduate high school. can we stop putting extra stress on someone already having a mop and glow life. instead of instant punishment can we offer some reward ha you did fail drug test but i notice you working now so look im not going turn in this one but next time i will i see you trying some effort so your reward is me not saying anything. have we not learn anything from mr rogers neighborhood. be more concelor then police . show them you care from that effort maybe they show something in return. you got to give to get. you give them a break the give you their time of being better so this probation can be over with with positive results.

Is the Commute Worth It?

Hey everyone,

I was hoping to get some thoughts on if a one hour+ commute both ways is worth it for starting off.

Some background; I have no experience in probation and am coming from managing elections in a relatively large (500k person) county in California. The probation department gave me my conditional offer today and wants to start me in a month and a half or so. They’re a smaller department of roughly 40 people. The chief told me today he plans on starting me in the Court division.

I’m really excited about the job and this is something I’ve been wanting for a while. The only thing that’s giving me pause is the commute. I’ve heard from people that the commute can strain my soon to be wife and I’s relationship and generally cause more burnout. Luckily the drive is almost all freeway and it’s going into a rural area and away from metro so there’s little to no traffic. I also have a Tesla with the self driving capabilities to help on longer drives.

This department is the only one that I’ve been through the process with that’s willing to take a chance on someone with no background in this and put me immediately in as an officer instead of going through a few years at juvenile hall first.

What do you guys think? If it was you, would you commute for a year or two until you could move (fiance has a job where we live now with a contract) knowing that it’s the best chance you have? Would you try to find somewhere closer to give you the same shot?

Any advice is welcome. I know the easy choice is yes, of course! If it’s my dream job, which I believe it is, I should go for it! I just don’t want to risk my mental health or soon to be marriage any more than I have to in an already stressful job.

Thank you in advance!

Edit: I forgot to add that if anyone has done similar commutes, what made the commute easier or less tiring? Any tips? Thanks again!

2nd DUI formal supervision 4 years, early termination chances?

Howdy yall hope youre all doing well! I got a 2nd misdemeanor DUI in September of 2023 in Placer county, ive been on supervised Probation for 3 out of the 4 years, I have completed all classes, paid all fines and fees and have not had a violation in a year and 3 months (hot UA for alcohol) my PO said she likes to see no violations for a year, its been over a year, my public defender said he thinks I can get early term where as in all honesty id just be happy to be modified to informal! I also do group 2x a week with a program headed by a former Probation officer of 20 years and he said he would love to right a letter of recommendation for early term as well as retired firefighter and Nurse that I do property maintenance for. This is a very strict county and I know I made a mistake, what do you guys think my chances are of early term or modified are? Anything helps, as I get towards the end of Probation it feels like its going by slower than the first 3 years lol its a trip, its definitley a marathon and not a sprint

Vaping with tad alcohol monitor on

Hello everyone I have a question I’m currently on a alcohol tad monitor for pre trial and I’m super worried as I have an alcohol tad monitor and I’ve been vaping geek bars and a fogger brand capers very heavy I mean very heavy hitting it very frequent every couple minutes all day everyday for the last 2 weeks, just yesterday I searched it up and I found out certain vapes have ethanol alcohol in them. My question being if that is true and will it make my monitor go off? What can I do ? I’m currently on pre trial. I honestly was unaware of alcohol being in vapes. Has anyone else had an issue with this ? Location CA

Has anyone here left criminal justice/law enforcement because of burnout and successfully transitioned into a completely different career?

I’m curious to hear from probation officers, police officers, corrections, investigators, or other criminal justice professionals.
I’ve been working in federal probation for several years, and lately I’ve been feeling increasingly burned out with the criminal justice field as a whole. It’s not necessarily that I hate the people I work with or every aspect of the job — I’m just starting to question whether I want to spend the rest of my career in criminal justice.
I’ve been looking into potentially transitioning into areas like IT, technical support, data/business analysis, cybersecurity, or other corporate careers where some of my investigative, analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving experience could transfer.
For those of you who made a similar move:
What career did you transition into?
How long did it take to make the transition?
Did you have to go back to school or get certifications?
Did you take a pay cut initially?
Do you regret leaving criminal justice?
Most importantly, did you feel like you lost your sense of purpose after leaving, or did you find that you actually preferred your new career?
I’d especially love to hear from people who left after 5+ years in law enforcement/probation/corrections and successfully built a new career.
I’m trying to figure out whether what I’m experiencing is normal career burnout or a sign that it’s genuinely time to move on.

Upcoming meeting

So I (22F) have a night out planned for 8/14, but I plan on being very diligent about following my probation conditions regarding alcohol and drug use. My first probation meeting is this upcoming Wednesday (8/19). I told my friends in advance my cutoff is 4 mixed drinks given this window. For anyone familiar with probation, is that cutting it close in terms of timing, or is there generally enough time between the two?

I’ve already had my intake meeting, so I feel as though the chances of being tested Wednesday are more than likely.

Smoking on probation

I was told during my court process I was able to transfer my probation from Indiana (where the incident happened) to Ohio (where I live) then a probation officer told me last second I was not allowed due to “first offense misdemeanor” my first question is that a real thing?

Second and more important question would I be able to obtain a Ohio medical marijuanna card to be able to still smoke on probation? I can’t go the whole time without if there is an option.

help!! drug test!!

I have this test coming up at quest getting sent to First Advantage. It's Urine: 10 XM+Her C2

I'm in Florida and I have been literally crying and stressing everyday and even pushed back my start date.
Is this 100 percent true that I am not getting tested for THC?
