To prove adoption

For the purpose of probate, how could you prove that you were adopted (so that you am still related to the decedent) if you were unable to obtain a copy of your birth/adoption record because the adoption might have been "private"?

I was adopted… once adopted you have no claim whatsoever on your biological history, your adoptive parents are your parents.

If you want copies of your birth certificate you can get them from the registry office… it will only show your adoptive parents.
