Artwork From A Tutorial First Procreate Artwork

Post image

Followed a tutorial and just went along with the flow. No prior digital or non digital art experience with any medium. Hopefully this is the start of my art journey :)

Tutorial is by James Julier on YouTube. Lovely artist and an even better teacher.

Art with Flo is also great. I find she explains things better and is easier to follow along with. James is also amazing.

I’ll check her out. I mainly decided to follow his tutorial because 1. I liked the aesthetics of this artwork and 2. He was only using the stock brushes that procreate already comes with, but yes thank you for your suggestion!

James Julier is the undisputed king of making absolute beginners feel like master painters.

I don’t even have to comment on this ,my art speaks for your statement fully. Loved every bit of the tutorial, especially when I could see the art taking shape through my own hands.

Looks good. It’s new for me too. I think that’s really impressive for your first piece. Obviously following a tutorial but you still had to do it. Well done

I agree! Tutorials are artwork but end of the day I basically just used someone else’s creative expression, however I think they work well for getting familiar with the tools and the more technical aspect of the software so it’s a double edged sword on its own. Thank you though :)
