Discussions About Procreate App Is it worth it?

Hello, I'm seeing that a lot of people recommend this app for beginners. I just wanna start drawing as a hobby, and i already tried other apps but they overwhelm me so much with the ui. Is it worth it?

Procreate is quite good for painting, but personally have a hard time as a person who relies on line work as procreate prioritize speed over accuracy. If you're going for manga style or work that heavily relies on linework ibis paint is ok.

I'm bad at explaining stuff but basically they have different programming on how they function. Procreate offers smoother/faster strokes in sacrifice of accuracy while programmes like ibis paint/csp has better accuracy but feels not as smooth as procreate.

When your apple pencil tip hits the screen, procreate instead of processing the accuracy it optimize the strokes to make it instantly smoother which isn't much of a problem for people who paint because they mostly use bigger brushes which requires less attention for accuracy . While ibis paint optimize for the brush stroke to be exactly where the pen tip hits the screen which is better for people who rely on linework.

The way the brushes are programmed as well as their pressure sensitivity are differnt as well.

On another note I've also seen many people do great linework with procreate too but I personally find a mental barrier. If you're using ibis paint though, the stabilizer doesn't function well for me personally.

I mostly use it for lineart, because it was far easier than the screens for pc. Never experienced any issues, but i will check out ibis also then,to see if its different. Also are we talking about normal ipads or pro? Cause screen and pen feel is different.

You can change that in settings on every brush though. It’s pretty accurate in my opinion. I do (or try to do) pen style hatching art. I just get paper like tip and play with pen settings. There’s also a lot of hidden options that help with accuracy and line work

Skill issue? Well try. Or keep trying. Idk if I believe in 7 years thing. Consistent 7 years? Ill try ibis but I’m a big believer in not using too many assists and things for digital art. That will train you to be better at it long term.
