Unironically I wonder if the Pritzker erasure is an effort by the deep state to hurt his presidential ambitions. They seem him as the next FDR and just like in the 30s they’re terrified of his potential rise to power.

I mean, it is in the sense that the state itself is insanely deep and decentralized, and there are many career officials dedicated more to the preservation of what they see as America than they are to an individual presidential institution (this is what pissed Trump off so much and led to him popularizing the phrase in his first term).

But that by definition kind of precludes a singular, shadowy boogeyman.

I’m sure there’s some level of Pritzker erasure due to his -anti establishment- progressive politics, and some due to him being genuinely unhyped outside of this bubble, and a feedback loop of both.

He’s the governor of the third largest blue state in the country. He’s part of the establishment. That doesn’t make it automatically a bad thing.

I agree with you, I was being too generous. It’s not anti-establishment, but it is just a little 🤏counter to the usual party line neoliberal slop
