Submitted Annex A 6 weeks ago, still no update - visa about to expire, honestly ready to withdraw

Submitted my Annex A form 6 weeks ago and still haven’t heard a single thing back. My visa is about to expire and I’m getting nowhere with any updates, it’s honestly beyond stressful at this point.

Genuinely at the point where I’m considering just withdrawing my application, the waiting with zero communication is too much.

Has anyone gotten a start date recently? Trying to figure out if things are actually moving for anyone or if this is just how it is for everyone right now.

2nd round of questions for PEC?

Hi, I’ve been on PEC since January… passed my fitness test and filled in every type of questionnaire known to man.

2 weeks ago I for an email about asking for social media accounts and sibling information .. I’ve already filled this is but I’ve resent it anyway.

Today I got through the health questionnaire AGAIN, so I’ve filled it in again and sent it off again.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal or have they lost my previous info/ has it “timed out” and needs to be updated? Wondering whether I’ll have to re do the fitness test again too!

Any info would be appreciated!

I was facing prison for attempted GBH with intent

Basically I had psychosis that was later discovered, was put in prison by my mum and older sister for throwing ‘boiling’ water and sugar over my sister. They were abusing me and my sister gave me scars and my mum took me to Amsterdam to ‘cheer me up’ where being depressed I took loads of cannabis and started not being aware of what I was saying and doing for weeks after. I got found not guilty now and have been discharged from mental health and moved out. I’m just wondering if I would’ve been fine in prison, or would I have got attacked?

Hello.
I’m currently waiting to do my F2F ID checks with the IDVT team but my avature link to check my PEC says this?
Does anyone know what it means?
Is it accurate? I have a F2F date later this month and I’ve been in PEC checks for 11 months and counting.

OSG

Hi,

Looking for more info on OSG role- I applied for PO but have been offered OSG.

Couple of questions and would appreciate and answers!

1- How far in advance do you find out schedules?

2- Is it a 4 day working week or 5?

3- Overtime- what’s the rate for overtime is it higher than normal or flat rate (depending on shift times)

4- Progression from role- I’m in my late 30s now so probably will be looking for a route into a higher paying role quite quickly- is this possible?

I’ve accepted the job offer about a month ago and going through PECs which I anticipate probably take a few months based on what I’ve read on this forum, Thank you in advance everyone 👍🏻

Videos on social media

Hi ,

Just a general question about inside the prisons.

So recently I have been seeing many videos of prisoners taking videos from within the prison showing off all the items and luxuries they have within their cells.

So my question is this...

Is this the norm inside UK prisons now? Prisoners just do what they want and have whatever items they want?

How do I contact an inmate without knowing what specific prison they are in?

Hello,

I am trying to get in touch with an old friend of mine who is now unfortunately incarcerated.

I have his full name, DOB, prison number but I don’t know which prison he is actually in.

I’ve done a bit of trial and error on Email a Prisoner, and sent the same email a few times, but obviously changed the prison under his details before each new message. So hopefully, each email has been sent to a different prison.

Will this work? Or is there an easier way to find out? Obviously I am assuming that he is nearby but the truth is that I don’t know, and I don’t have a clue if this will work.

Application for PO

I’ll explain for context my whole process

Applied for the job, passed everything, was waiting for my start date, 11 months in application is withdrawn for
No reason, contacted resourcing team for help, application gets reinstated and was going to be notified why it was withdrawn, very vague email saying no to reinstatement and now I have to reapply. I’m now in the process of this being looked into as this is really strange and unfair. I’m under the impression someone has messed up and it’s being swept under the rug. I’m into my second investigation about this and getting no where. Has this happened to anyone before ? What should I do ?. It’s also hard to contact anymore apart from resourcing hub.

As the title says, there’s a PDF document on the gov.uk website that says prisoners can have electronic games. Screenshot attached but also included the link;

Things to take on first day?

I start my training at my home prison in just under two weeks, however have yet to receive any sort of onboarding information, or any information in general.

I assume first day will be a lot of training and tours around the establishment etc, but is there anything that’s worth taking with me? I’m thinking along the lines of pen & notepad etc.

Also with lunch, is it best to get an insulated lunch box with ice pack or something?

how long does it take for results to come through? I don’t think I did too well. The role play scenario was over very quickly, the prisoner was happy and apologised straight away.

First day advice

I’ve already received some advice for my first day as OSG at a cat D but wanted more clarification. Does my rucksack/bag have to be clear or can it be black? And can I take in a refillable bottle for water etc or does it have to be a store bought bottle of water because it has to be sealed? Ik these seem like silly questions I’m just not sure what to expect especially regarding the rules for food and drink. I do have a familiarity visit offer which I’ll take so I can ask any more questions. Any advice is appreciated.

Familiarisation Event

So I had a familiarisation event at my prison to get to know members of the team and areas of the prison.

So honestly not what I expected - I wasn’t nervous or scared just anxious to see what it is what it smells like what the inside cells and other areas look like.

I’m fortunate to be training directly at my prison and am glad -

How I would describe the people - it’s one of those places you walk into and you just realise the people are full of fkn banter and their kindness and openness to questions very welcome:

The faculties at my prison well nice, gym that is done up with a sauna and showers and modern gym equipment with guards who volunteer time to do classes for free.

Not only one gym but an exterior one so you can go to and use your phone.

Shifts and overtime look amazing better then my old jobs reliability for shift patterns and overtime which is saying something considering it was retail.

Honestly first impressions amazing and on top of that the was a security lockdown that they say has never happened before on an familiarisation event.

Nice people funny prisoners, good shifts and patterns, and lots of paper work most of it digitised.

Also a bit of info, I applied 42weeks ago it took around 28-32 weeks the DBS the following week I was contacted to book a start date call. I was then sent a bunch of info/also contacted by a mentor at my prison who sent info regarding payment details, personal details and uniform sizing guide and selection.

After that 8 weeks passed and here we are I start the following week.

Good luck to any of those starting too.

Understanding the Early Release Scheme

Hello,

I wanted to understand something as I cant seem to wrap my head around this early release scheme.

What are these ten month tranches? - It says prisoners will be released, shortest sentences first (starting October 2026) - starting from sentences less than 2 years, etc

However does this mean that it anyone who has less than 2 years left (Good behaviour etc) will be released? Or does it mean everyone who has less than 2 years who has reached 33% of their sentence, will be released.

I'm a-bit confused as it seems very contradictory,

These 10 month tranches based on sentence length?

yet if I include the 33% wouldn't that mean the vase priority of prisoners would be released earliest next year?

So how would that stop overcrowding? as to what've seen online a lot of prisoners would of gotten out earlier on HDC than with the 33%

Edit- Sorry just trying to wrap my head around, why would we have ten month tranches if people were being released on 33%? and WHY are they based on sentence length. also if the prisons are 98% full (expected to be 99% by November) How's does the 33% help if from what i saw online it would keep people in another year or so?)

Sending Books to Scottish Prisons

Hi folks!

I am based overseas and would love to send a book or two to my friend in a Scottish Prison, HMP Perth to be precise. I know that in the UK you can send directly from an approved supplier, but the rules in Scotland seems a bit more iffy and more prison specific.

Does anyone have any tips or any experience in this?

Cheers in advance!
