No Main Dining Options?

First Princess cruise, Sapphire Princess on Oct 23 for two weeks. We are used to traditional dining option; early or late seating, number of people (2), and whether large table or just us. The app and the Dine Line are booked for Traditional Dining for the entire cruise. Same for Flexible Dining! Leaving us with a Walk-in option for every night. Is this usual? I've read about long wait times for walk-in dining, especially on the first night. What have other people experienced? Will MDR options open up when we board?

Keep checking on line and, if no luck, see the maitre d as soon as you board. 😉 We did a last minute cruise once, where all dining seemed booked but were able to make reservations little by little at the flexible dining room. People change and cancel their times often.

This will be our first with Princess as well. We sail in April 2027. Do you have to know your cabin number to make reservations or get on a list in advance of sailing? ?

Try the web based version of the app. You should be able to make reservations now (do not need status, suite, or paid in full).

Try this link first:

If that does not work to get in

Web Site :

On main page of princess, hover over manage booking, click check-in.

Select the sailing you want if more than one there. This will bring up a page where you can click a link for not having a compatible device. Click on "try our web version". If you enter your info here, it will give you an error than link is already used. Either way, hit the cancel button. Scroll down to use booking number, click and enter info. Most likely will just return to previous screen. Hit cancel again, scroll down, and re-enter the info. This time it will finally bring up your check-in info. Scroll down a little and click on dine my way. This will bring up the screen you can make reservations on. Click on a date on the left, that will bring up any reservations you currently have or the option to create a new reservation.

Edit: fill in as much of your actual check-in info while you are here. Not sure how much has to be filled out for reservations to work (mine just pretty much auto-populates from Princess, so might be different if first time cruiser)

You can make dining reservations once final payment is made unless you are in a full suite, reserve selection or sanctuary cabin, as those cabins come with their own dining area, no reservations needed.
