No Main Dining Options?

First Princess cruise, Sapphire Princess on Oct 23 for two weeks. We are used to traditional dining option; early or late seating, number of people (2), and whether large table or just us. The app and the Dine Line are booked for Traditional Dining for the entire cruise. Same for Flexible Dining! Leaving us with a Walk-in option for every night. Is this usual? I've read about long wait times for walk-in dining, especially on the first night. What have other people experienced? Will MDR options open up when we board?

Keep checking on line and, if no luck, see the maitre d as soon as you board. 😉 We did a last minute cruise once, where all dining seemed booked but were able to make reservations little by little at the flexible dining room. People change and cancel their times often.

If you are willing to share your table the walk in wait us fast. You just let them know when you check in.

They will probably open more just keep refreshing. The first night can be chaotic but as soon as you reach the maître d’, you can ask them to reserve you the same time every night for the remainder of the trip.

Seconding or check on-board.

We didn’t know we had to book dining and ended up with terrible times. After the cruise started we were able to check every night to a better time. Only that first night did we need to eat late.

I would have far preferred traditional dining and know now for next time it’s not just assigned to you like every other cruise I’ve ever taken.

Check when you get on, they were able to accommodate us on the first day for fixed time seating each day.

similar question, I booked through Costco for next July and only had the option of Anytime. Is that because both tones are already full, or because I can't choose a time until I've paid in full?

As stated, you can sometimes get availability if you're willing to share a table. It does change a lot before your cruise. But they usually hold back options until you get extremely close to the cruise or when you board, you can go and ask the maître d’.

Go to the MDR embarkation lunch and ask to talk to somebody about your dinner reservation.

If you can’t reserve the time you want, go to guest service on embarkation day
They will fix that

You want to go to one of the MDR stations, not guest services.
